A Little Bit of Everything From the 5 Points Theatre

5 Points Theatre

Starting this Friday, we've got an unusally wide variety of stuff going on at the 5 Points Theatre!

We're continuing to show "I Love You Man", with shows every day whenever we don't have something else going on.  If you haven't it yet - it's great.

Friday and Saturday, the Florida Coastal School of Law will be presenting "The Vagina Monologues", starting at 6 pm each night.  For ticketing information, e-mail mailto:Vaginamonologuesfcsl@gmail.com.

At 11:15 on Friday night, we've got our first "midnight" movie - the complete and uncut "Grindhouse."  This is a $5 special as well.

Saturday night we're showing the UNC / Villanova game.  Admission is free!  Doors open at 8:15.  The Duke / UNC game was a blast, and we're hoping to have some of that same energy for this game.  We'll need to find some people to root for the Wildcats though...

We've also got a special 2 pm matinee of "I Love You Man" if you need some AC and darkness after checking out the Arts Market opening.

Monday we've got the NCAA Championship Game, with doors opening one hour before game time.

Finally, on Wednesday we've got our first wine tasting event, along with a showing of the movie "Bottle Shock."  The movie is about the early days of the California wine industry, and so the tasting features 8 wines - 4 French and 4 from California.  Tickets are $20 - please call the office at 358-0605 for reservations.

As always, you can find more information at www.5pointstheatre.com.

I like it!  Is the "midnight" movie going to be a regular occurrence?

5 Points Theatre

We'd love to do regular midnight movies.  Generally, with newly released movies, the studios insist that we carry them "clean" - with nothing else on that screen.

Starting this Friday, because we're carrying "I Love You Man" for a third week, we're able to do a lot more special programming.

We may also do a midnight movie on April 10.  Any suggestions?

I'm a big fan of True Romance (Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, etc.)...not sure if it would pack the seats or not but I'd love to see it on the big screen for the first time.

True Romance is a good movie no doubt but I thought midnight movies are normally reserved for cult classic’s or an obscure indies... I guess both are Tarantino and both good movies.

I would love to see "Dancer in the Dark" on the big screen... that may be to brutally sad for most moviegoers.

My girlfriend & I saw "I love you man" a couple weeks ago and had a great time at the 5 points theater (as always).

I attend FCSL, and on campus today the theatre group was distributing these lollipops shaped like vaginas, trying to get people to come see the play...

I thought that was tacky, but by all accounts the show is supposed to be really good, so I hope it gets a good turnout.

I love it! Pimping out the theatre. It is Guerilla warfare! I'd like to see San Marco do the same....

The midnight movie for next week will be...

The Big Lebowski

And yes, Schwaz, Dancer in the Dark is way way too depressing for a midnight movies.  We'd have to sell pint glasses of vodka to go along with it.

David

What about true romance for a future midnight movie? I somehow made it through the 90's without ever seeing it.

Hahaha Like I said, I've always wanted to see it on the big screen... the musical scenes would be great with the large surround sound too. + I like vodka

You gotta show Ghostbusters as a midnight movie one of these days.

(Unrelated bragging: I helped my dad with the restoration of the interior of the theater. I held the 40 foot ladder as he prayed and held on for dear life with one hand, and faux finished with the other hand.)
