The constant roaring of the engines, the jets flying around, etc.. STOP!!!

Is it just me, or is anyone else getting annoyed from it all too?!

That sir, is the sound of freedom.

True that....it's also what you have when you live near a Naval Air Station.

Yes, the sound of freedom, yes, living near an air base. I've lived here since 1990 and it's never been this bad, even through the Gulf War. At 9 and 10 at night this noise is going on, very annoying.

I'm 2 miles north of the base in Ortega...I haven't noticed any increase in noise.

Aren't we getting more air squadrons based at NASJAX?  That could account for the increase in air traffic.  And I don't think they are all here yet.

I    don't think the new squadrons have relocated yet, but someone could shed more light on that. Also could be manuevers going on that are causing it.  Lived near NAS jax for many year got woke up one morning the house was literally vibrating.  They had a nato excersize, pretty cool watching all the german, british, american and yes even Kuwati aircraft flying over the house.  pretty orgasmic      ;D

I am on the East side of the river from the runway.  Loud sometimes, true, but I am humbled by the dedication of the crews and amazed at the variety of aircraft coming into NAS.

I love the noise.  Bring more of it.  Those boys (and some girls too) are up there to protect our freedom and I salute them.

BTW, I have noticed no increase in noise or traffic but I do not live directly in the flight path for NAS Jax.

I spent part of my childhood listening to A-4s and F-14s shake the house at 6am; since Dad was in one of them, we were less inclined to be bothered by the sound. These days, I'm certainly not complaining now that I get a house-shaking, loud, awesomely close view of gameday flyovers from my upper porch.

You live in a Navy town. Noisy periods of squadron exercises come and go.

I enjoy the sound as well.  I hear them almost every day while I'm at work here in Mandarin.

How I wish I could say that when I receive noise complaint calls when I'm at work!

Bottom line:  If you don't want to hear airplanes, don't buy a house near an airport.  You moved next to it, you deal with it.

Speaking of... I think I hear an F-18 thundering outside right now :)

Just wait until the P-8s begin replacing the P-3s... ;D
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I find it comforting, believe me... Beats the hell out of the sound of "INCOMING!"

Seems to be some sort of excercise, a few days maybe a week or so then quiets back down. Gotta keep that edge sharp boyz and girls. I went outside a couple of days ago as they streaked over JTB in an extra loud roar. Saw 4 fighters in formation heading SW, BEAUTIFUL!
