I didnt attack Tebow. I think he is a standup guy,  and that he is a great role model. I also didn't make any such comment GatorShane,

"Oh,and by the way Seminole boy, didnt you recently call me out about my perception on F.S.U. and its attendance problems in regards to how much closer Gainesville is to Floridas major cities than Tallahassee?"

There is someone else with FSU in their name on this board, I am not the only one.

... but neither of them had the most 1st place votes.

Tebow did have more 1st place votes, but not by that much. Also in the championship game, I don't believe Tebow was the better quarterback, some of those throws especially the 2 interceptions were just horrid throws that should not have been made. I also believe that the MVP should have been Percy Harvin, because that kid made some ridiculous runs that helped set up the points that the Gators score. I will give Tebow the nice runs he had in the game, but when you have all the weapons on the field that Tebow had, someone was going to be left alone and at the end of the game it was Tebow that benefited. All in all it was a great game to watch and hope for another great year next year.

I am so sorry! I did not know that the media in Tampa, Orlando. Miami and Ft. Lauderdale were ignorant and fawning also over there coverage over UF.(they also had extensive coverage of UF as well) As for the comment that Uf fans wont be as loud and vocal and supportive when things dont go as well as this year then you obviously dont now the history. Florida has the third longest sellout streak in the nation, dating back to 1989. Prior to that span, during the eighties, only five games didnt sell out. Thats a total of six games since 1980. (out of more than 200) Just a reminder that we dont just show up during the best of times. Good or bad, we show up. Something the Canes and Noles could learn from. You are right however that all three scholls have had there share of off field problems so that is why the Tebow kid is so special. That was my point about peoples complaint about coverage of him in particular. You cant deny he is a great role model,

UF campus is not in Jacksonville and we should stop acting as if it is.

Amen to this.  I'm always upset at the number of UF shirts I see on campus at UNF, but Wednesday and Thursday it was just ridiculous.  I personally don't care much about college football teams so it doesn't matter to me who wins/loses/is in the championship.  I understand, given our proximity to Gainesville that there are going to be a lot of Gator fans in town.  But it really bothers me seeing UNF's campus littered with blue and orange.  It's blue and gray you morons!!  Have some pride in THE SCHOOL THAT YOU GO TO!!

You do have to realize that a lot of the people that go to UNF are there because they couldn't get into some of the other schools in the state like UF. Not everyone can go there. I was lucky enough to make it into UF, though I'm not a Gator fan. And with how close Jacksonville is to Gainesville, I can see why there are so many Gator fans. I wish it was different but before there were the Jaguars it was only the Gators.

GatorShane

My apologies! You are right. I should do my research before posting. That was someone else with fsu in their postname. Once again my sincerest apologies. Thanks, Shane

I was a diehard Seminole fan growing up (both my parents got their doctorates from FSU) and I never had any problem with the local media's coverage of college sports. I also never felt that us Seminoles were terribly outnumbered either (although the scales certainly did tip in the favor of Gator fans, just not heavily).

To avoid any confusion...I truly became a gator fan early in my third year attending the University of Florida...it took over two years for me to shed my gator hatred developed over the first 18 years of life.

I also have no problem with people attending one college and rooting for another. It's certainly a case-by-case basis...fairweather fans are annoying, but it is possible to be a legitimate fan who just happens to want to wear his team's colors when they are doing well.

Schwaz/copper - let's just say he's the only true sophomore to win? Fair enough? I'm a gator fan but I don't put too much stock in the heisman voting/snub talk...nor do I say that Tebow outplaying Bradford in Miami proves he is the better quarterback. Wouldn't you agree that the UF defense is much tougher to play against than the OU defense?

Actually that's what makes the case for Tebow getting robbed of the Heisman. Bradford did have great stats in a division that essentially plays 2 hand touch. It's easy to put up 60 points a game in the Big12... against a real defense you saw the outcome.

Once again I am not a gator fan, I do not own any gator apparel nor have I ever been to one of their games.
I'm just saying what I observed was unfair as far as the Heisman goes.

QuoteTebow did have more 1st place votes, but not by that much.

What you fail to realize is he was snubbed on the ballots from the southwest. Whether you're a gator fan or a gator hater it's obvious to most that being left off those ballots handed Bradford the trophy. Was their unethical voting in other regions? Sure... but nowhere near as blatant as the Southwest.
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Whether or not the voting in the southwest was to snubb Tebow is debateable. However after seeing how the Big 12 faired in the bowl games those votes might not have been the same. If the voting for the heisman was done after all the games were played (i.e. BCS Champioship) then those votes may of played out differently. I think what really needs to happen is the voting should be held off until all the games are played.

Shwaz

As far as I'm concerned the Heisman is now in the same league with the ProBowl... meaningless.

Lucasjj

How can you say the ProBowl is meaningless...Brett Favre got voted in and he led the league in interceptions!

yep...that was me...not fsujax

As for adding a little gas to the fire....UF has the largest and best journalism program in the state...so that's where many members of the media got degrees....but it is unfortunate how slanted the reporting sometimes is...for example, anytime there is a "criminole" problem its a top story....but how many people have even heard about Cam Newton's (backup QB) problems this year in Gainesville?

jandar

Whats was funny was the students wearing UF shirts to class @ JU.
I laughed when they would want the class off to watch a game (Basketball, etc) and the professor just happened to have his doctorate from Auburn, or another UF rival.

Was always worth a good laugh.

No one is disgruntled (at least not me) and not all Seminoles are criminals. Florida has had there fair share of players arrested this year. I dont want to take anything from Tebow. I go to the same church as him and his family. They are great people. I just get tired of the relentless news coverage here locally. Let the Gainesville news media take care of all that. UF campus is not in Jacksonville and we should stop acting as if it is.

I feel your pain man. At least 5 Blackouts in 2009. Go Jags.

I disagree. Your extrapolation fails to consider both sides. Bradford had it easier facing weak Big 12 defenses, but his numbers were higher accordingly. Tebow's stats were impressive given his situation, but you can't legitimately say he would have matched Bradford (60 points a game isn't no matter who you're playing). Hey, he only put up 24 against the Sooner D. That would seem to suggest that OU's defense was better than all the SEC teams Florida faced this year.

Bottom line is, in my eyes, Tebow slightly outplayed Bradford in the title game, and had the benefit of facing a worse defense.

All that said, I would have voted for Tebow if I had a vote, but I think Bradford and McCoy were both deserving as well so it doesn't bother me.
