It's great to see Prado Walk is finally coming out of the ground!  Who is the architect on the most current design?

I see mention of the garage at Berkman 2...anyone heard anything about resuming construction of the tower?

Charles Hunter

At the Berkman, are they working on the new garage, or still cleaning up the old rubble?

It appears that they are cleaning up the rubble.

BP2 is getting closer and closer to resuming.  The one thing I know for an absolute certaintly is that it will resume and be completed by the Developer.  CTS is finishing off the remaining site clean-up on the garage and I have noticed small packs of workers in the Tower over the last few days.

One important piece of info. regarding BP2 is the benefit of this construction delay.  In NO way am I downplaying the loss of a human life and those that were injured, but from a real estate perspective the delay is probably been beneficial for many.  Anyone associated with real estate knows how hard it is to get banks to loan money on investment or secondary condo's during today's credit crisis.  With that in mind, this building was set to start closings at the end of this year before the accident.  This delay will hopefully allow the credit markets to recover and make lending a little easier by this time next year.

Not to worry anyone, but did the same architect and/or contractor build the BP1 garage?  Has it been inspected - thoroughly - since the collapse of BP2?

Basstacular

I am not certain, but I do believe the same architects designed the first garage and it is obviously functioning fine.  This would also go along with OSHA and the fired Choate employees claims that they (Choate) did not properly follow the engineering plans.  Either way, the truth will ultimately surface and in my humble opinion, the developer and his engineers will be vindicated.  In the meantime, construction will resume and the building will be beautiful.

Basstacular

I am pretty certain Choate was not the GC on The Plaza and its garage.

Quite a paltry, austere listing; anyway, I won't complain too much cause anything is better than nothing.  Someone should do a thread on how Jacksonville stacks up against other Florida cities relative to downtown construction projects a la post housing bust.

Jax compared to other Fla cities, probably dead last.

Forgive me if I'm out of the loop, but the whole shipyards thing has been confusing ???

Is this still the plan for the shipyards:

and what's the timeline?

thanks!

Brewster Hospital Restoration is coming along nicely, and the restored building is really starting to take shape. Although it seems like the project has been going on forever.

Also, it's too bad Prado Walk is only a single story building, or atleast that's what the last conceptual drawing shown. I like the original concept much more. http://www.metrojacksonville.com/content/view/887/122/  But I guess in these hard economic times, some construction is better than none.

The tower is on hold or maybe dead altogether, but the pier is still a go I think.

Prado should have included 2d story apartments at least.  They could have been rented with an eye towards condo conversion down the road when the market comes back.  Riverside rentals are pretty easy to fill even today.
