I remember when Baymeadows was new and it was the place for young urban professionals (Yuppies) and divorcees.  The disco just outside its gates was Smugglers, as I recall.  The other area hot spot was the Happy Jax lounge at Jax Liquors (which eventually sold out to ABC).

Other than Deerwood, most of the rest of the area was just pine trees and Baymeadows terminated at Southside Blvd. which was mostly sand dunes left over from titanium strip mining.
