I just recieved very sad news from one of the Five Points Merchants.

Linda Adcock, the eponymous owner of Adcock's Costumes has apparently passed away.

Linda was one of the more interesting and glamorous women in Jacksonville in the 1990's and her store relocation to five points was one of the great leaps forward for the neighborhood back in the early days when there were just a few of us.

She married Neil Levitsky, another of Jacksonville's new wave pioneers.

Neil was one of the owners of the Metropolis with Ed and Larry Wilson when it was on Monroe Street.   They moved and renamed their club to the corner of Adams and Hogan which became one of the club legends of downtown:  The Milk Bar.

Neil went on to become one of the founding partners of Club Five, which was originally opened as an upscale blues club and sold his shares out to Scott and Nancy Foster.

He then went on the open the Starlight Cafe, which he recently sold shortly after he and Linda married.

Along with Lee Haack, Linda and Neil were part of the avante garde in both Riverside, downtown and Springfield, and this glamorous, intelligent woman will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with her close ones. I am sure I did meet her at one point while growing up in the 5 points deli, and I still feel a close bond to the area.
