Gonzales/Pursel 4th and 6th St Block

Hey just wondering if anyone knew if there was any backstory to this section in the Jax Beach neighborhood starting at 6th Ave S to Pursel St. If you look on google maps you can see that this block is not inline with the rest of the grid. Was it like the first neighborhood in the area or something?

There were a few plats of this area, both are mostly configured as it exists today. In 1909 the area was platted as Pablo Beach, in 1922 it was re-platted as Oceanside Park. The '09 plat shows a township line on the northern boundary of 6th Street (formerly First Street).  Perhaps you can find some more information within area Sanborn Maps?
