Walgreens plans specialty pharmacy at 8th and Main

A specialty Walgreens intends to open in Springfield at 1801 N. Main St.
A "Community, A Walgreens Pharmacy" will open its first Jacksonville location, pending approval of the building permit at a project cost of $226,099.

Walgreens also has a traditional retail pharmacy less than a mile west at 1801 N. Davis St., near UF Health Jacksonville.

Spokesman Scott Goldberg said the specialty pharmacies dispense medications and provide patient care to help patients managing conditions, such as cancer, HIV, AIDS, hepatitis C and transplants.

Plans for the 1,452-square-foot pharmacy also show a community room. Goldberg said it could open by the end of the first quarter.
