Watch out in Springfield

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Hazmat crews are cleaning up a gas line break on North Laura Street in the Springfield area, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

The 2-inch line broke during construction about a block west of U.S. 1, fire officials said.

Gas utility company personnel were at the scene, along with firefighters.

The gas line break is a few blocks south of Kirby-Smith Middle School and Andrew A. Robinson Elementary School.

A one- to two-block area around the gas line break has been closed off to traffic while Hazmat gets the leak under control.

Be careful in Springfield.

Yikes, that's just around the corner from us.  I'm confused, was the actual break at a different location than where they were working?  Because US-1 isn't a block east of 8th and Laura - more like 11-12 blocks.
