today I am attending a Friends of Hemming Park meeting open to the public at 4:00pm. Seems there is a possible issue with a council committee tabling an ordinance appropriating a large corporate sponsorship for construction of a music statge. perhaps a modern version of the old gazebo the park had back when downtown was booming. Once upon a time I tried to find that gazebo but never had any luck.  The staging area would help generate more events, thereby serving and attracting more people which generates  more private income and helps energize downtown' CORE. Sure the City is a contributor, that is common practice. The stadium improvements are a shared cost by the tax payers as well,  but in the long run contributes to our quality of life. the main thing about Hemming Park though, is that this venue in right in the core. The core needs help and the friends of hemming plaza have poured their hearts and souls into this project and today Hemming Park is a completely different experience. I am going to attend the meeting and encourage others as well!  matt Carlucci sr.

Not just Hemming Park.  The Laura Street corridor from City Hall to the river is the most vital stretch in all of downtown.  It is the heart and artery that the rest of downtown feeds off of but needs to get healthy again.  These daytime meetings are tough for me to get to but please let us know how it goes.

I completely agree about Laura St corridor , trio and other core areas.  Hemming issue just caught my eye and hate to see a snag here. Matt Carlucci Sr

after attending the meeting I feel much better about this partnership coming together with community first for the stage. the state will be awesome. I understand Councilman Gulliford on board and that is a big key!! matt
