Reports have been differing a little, i heard 5% of its stores, whatever that turns out to be. But I say GOOD! and then I also have to admit that I have fallen in love with McDonalds' (yes, i know....) Super Large Iced Hazelnut Coffee for $1.99.  Best ever.

AJ, the manager of the 11 east starbucks has verified that it will be among the 600 closed.

Thats pretty sad.

That does suck... not that I am a huge fan of Starbucks but it seemed to be a thriving business downtown.

Im not sure where my experience comes into play, but if it makes you feel better, thats cool. I will stick to my regular paycheck, my 9-5 hours, and the ability to be home with my wife and children every night, at least for the time being. If I decide to give running a business a try, I will make sure I let you know, as you seem very concerned about my ability to run a business.

Now, back to my original point. I enjoyed that location as well, and now that its built out, it should be simple to step in, re-brand it (Dare's House Coffee, Tea, and Crumpets perhaps?) , and make it fly, since it was working. Even better, since it was your idea to begin with.

ps. dtp.  Its kindof embarrassing that you keep expressing chagrin upon finding out that I was involved with stuff for about 20 years before you moved here.

I expressed chagrin? Not so much. I think it would be great if a ma and pa could step in where super-mega-corp failed, and make it work. You could give it more personality, have shows there, dress it up, and make it less sterile. As you are well aware, I have always been a big fan of ma and pa businesses, and in fact even told you once that I would prefer to spend my consumer dollar in a place where I knew it would make a difference, even if it was a little more expensive.

Although the building would be amazing, Im pretty sure that the unique rent that we worked out in advance for starbucks is approaching an end, hence the choice of axing that location over the Landing location.

I'm pretty sure that the special rent deal was for 2 years....if so, it should still have about 1 year left.
