Sigh.  He and Gunnel arrived in 5 Points long before it became trendy.  Back when 5 Points had been forgotten, back when there were several halfway houses in the neighborhood.
When Punk and Grunge were on the cutting edge and not mainstream.
Empty storefronts, other than Edge City, Bogers, The Derby House, Fans and Stove, and Kostas Italiano and 5 points News stand were keeping the street breathing.  Peterson's  5 & 10 was on the verge of closing, but Edge City started and stayed.

RIP Tom, perhaps there is a neighborhood in heaven that needs you more than 5 Points does.

We are so saddened to hear this news. Tom and Gunnel and the wonderful Edge City seemed destined to go on forever. Tom was the perfect gentleman, the kindest smile, the warmest remembrances. Tom we will miss you too.

Sad to hear of the passing of such a wonderful human. I will forever be glad that our paths crossed. Peace and love to Gunnel ...

P.S. What a sweet photo!

Ow, wow.  Edge City was cool before 5 Points was cool.  Rest in peace.

I've been going to Edge City since before Tom and Gunnel owned it.  They turned it into a Jacksonville icon and transformed it into something almost immortal.  R.I.P. my friend.
