The distrust from some on this board of Shad Khan, the 4th richest owner in the NFL, has been ridiculous. The man is in partnership with the city. And committed to this city.

I think the Jags brass legitimately believe they need one sooner rather than later, to be more competitive on the field (among a lot of other things).  I don't believe this is an indictment on the Shipyards progress (or lack thereof).

He said they are still interested and involved in Shipyards.  But with that process and remediation of environment issues could be years out. They can bring it online by building at the the stadium much quicker.  It makes sense.  The reality with the Shipyards and remediation hey are probably 2 years from breaking ground. This could. Real ground within a couple of months.

Ennis, I didn't have you or your comment in mind at all. stephendare, as evidenced above, and his limited perspective regarding Shad Khan and the Jaguars? Yes, indeed.

This is good. No need for practice fields (especially indoor fields) to be on the river.

Its going to be a multi use facility so I  dont think being on river is that big of a deal, but atleast now they can move forward and get in done.

It will be nice to see some more surface parking lot space disappear! I also agree with others who believe this is a better location for an indoor field, as opposed to it being on the river.

As negotiations appear to be at a standstill over his high-profile proposal to redevelop the Shipyards property on downtown's waterfront, Jaguars owner Shad Khan said Tuesday he plans to move ahead with plans to build an indoor practice facility located just outside EverBank Field that he will finance at a cost in the "ballpark" of $30 million.
Khan's Shipyards project included an indoor facility for the Jaguars, but he wants his team to have an alternate facility by the start of next season.

"I'm not sure when the Shipyards will be done," Khan said after hosting a luncheon benefitting the Jaguars' charitable foundation.

Khan initially declined to give a price for the facility, but when told that the University of Georgia's facility is costing nearly $30 million, he said: "I would think that's the ballpark, to really do it the right away. ... Mostly our money. Hopefully, a minimal amount of red tape."

It's not clear if he will seek public investment for the project.

City officials did not return phone calls by Tuesday afternoon.

Although Khan wouldn't reveal specific details, he said the project, "will have more to it than just the practice facility. There will be components to it that will make this more of a destination. Our goal for the home games – we want them to be like a weekend where we can regionally attract people to the city. There would be other events."

Khan hopes the indoor facility will be completed in time for training camp next July.

There really is only one limited perspective on Khan, rattlergator, and that is yours.  Anytime Khan's name is mentioned you show up suddenly to assert positive messaging on his behalf, even when its unwarranted.

Do you work for or with, khan or any of his affiliated companies?  Ive asked this before, but no answer.

Work for him? Of course not, stephen. How plantation master of you -- I can't have an independent opinion, huh? Gotta be paid by some "other" massa, is that it? Back up, bwah. Oh nice, Lake! I like the timeline very much. Sounds like they'll seek minimal public funds...hopefully his definition of "mostly" is the same as ours.
