Dropped by the inimitable little cafe that could for lunch on Sunday.

Food is as brilliant as always, and it seems like the prices have come down a bit.

The Avondale shopping district is undergoing some changes it looks like.  Another one of the retail spaces is closed, but the food and entertainment components seem to be expanding (and competing)  there were five dollar drink and food specials in the window of Sterlings (for the love of god....the economy MUST be crashing)

The third room is awesome and the place was packed on a sunday at 2:30

The Casbah is about to expand too.  Now, they'll have a full liquor bar as well as the most reasonably priced Middle Eastern food around (take that Layla's).

Plus, they always have 2 or 3 Craft beers to be had.

um layla's is kind of horrible actually.  Service is among the worst Ive ever seen.  Too bad too, it looks like such a cool place.

Hence the, "take that Layla's."  My girlfriend and I went there about 3 months ago (last time we will go) and waited a half hour for hummus.  If the place was crowded it MIGHT have been understandable, but there was only two other tables with people.  Once the waiter brought the hummus, we stood up and told him that we were leaving.  His look of confusion only angered me more.  In sum, screw Layla's.
