tacachale. if you are talking about the bogus crime statistics floated by the curry campaign, I wonder why Jacksonville doesn't appear on this list for 2015?

Unfortunately, the only bogus crime statistics I saw were the ones floated by Metro Jacksonville.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

so brown fired 147 cops that were fighting crime for the municipality?

Or was it the case that two private contracts were cancelled by the Port and the School Board, who have replaced the cops with private security forces?

It's a subject for another thread (several), but crime went up every year of Brown's term. There's no denying that short, of misreading or misrepresenting the data. Meanwhile, Brown cut cops (the exact number is, of course, subject to debate) and proposed cutting hundreds more. The claim made here and elsewhere that crime was not, in fact, increasing apparently wasn't persuasive to that many people.

Brown lost the election narrowly, rather than Curry winning it, I think.

Ha.  And it can be equally stated with authority that Curry WON the election because, gee, he did.

It can be just as easily said that Brown's campaign relied upon the sediment that so many here  subscribed to.  While even he and his camp knew they had not done a bang up job the last four years, they were the incumbent and as such, they could not be beat.  They were.  Regardless of who spent how much or how big or small the margin was, Brown lost, Curry won.

Rather than why Brown lost or Curry "narrowly" won, perhaps we should be asking if spending millions on winning a poorly paid CEO job, a temp one at that, is truly in the best interests of the people of Jacksonville.

Hows the Denise Lee and Kim Scott thing working out, strider?

I think in the end, you might be surprised....

Tacahale, you are incorrect.

Crime did not go up every year of Brown's admin.

Further, it's more valuable to look at crime rates vs. total numbers. This means, even if total number of crimes goes up, the violent crime rate can still decrease. Aren't you curious as to why JSO didn't publish the crime rates?

Looking at total numbers is not the best way to look at crime in a city. It doesn't account for population fluctuations.

I'm having trouble locating 2013 and 2014 VCR for Jax.

This conversation has merit for one reason, it provides a historical context to Jacksonville's crime rates.

Even if crime went up by the marginal increases you are pointing to...is that anymore relevant then the marginal decreases I am pointing to?
