The Sheik is Going to Franchise

The Sheik Sandwiches has been in the Salameh family hands ever since two brothers founded it more than 40 years ago.
The company officially opened itself to franchising this week, hoping to get others interested in their own restaurants serving Camel Riders and Steaks in a Sack.

"Now it's the right time," Elias Salameh said. "I want to expand the brand."

Samir "Sam" and Munir "Mike Sr." Salameh opened The Sheik at Main and 18th streets in 1972 after owning several other sandwich shops. Over the years, it's become a Jacksonville brand and grown to five stores, all individually owned by family members. But Elias Salameh said they still operate as one family unit.

He and his cousin Mike Salameh Jr., sons of the founders, are partners in The Sheik Franchise Group. They've enlisted Next Franchise Systems to take this next step...
