Still not open but they have the signage up and it looks close.

Nice.  I haven't been by in a while, but it sounds like I need to ride my bike up there and check it out.

Good to hear - did you catch an official opening date?

I love BBQ.  I hope this place is good and best of luck to Chad and Michael.  However, I am realistic and don't expect much.  Sorry that's apparently such a radical outlook.

Mike Schmidt is someone I have known for a looooooooong time and I wouldn't believe anything that comes out of that guy's mouth.  If you actually looked into this BBQ place he "ran" in Boston, you'd know it went out of business in like less than a month due to jaw-dropping failures. Just because some guy says he is some "Texas brisket" (whatever in the fuck that is-- it certainly isn't just some vague expertise he claims for validity) expert, doesn't mean I automatically believe him.

MMR- Would you say it met or exceeded your lofty expectations?

The family went there this weekend and it was great! The kids loved the corn hole and chalk walls and the adults loved the food and drinks. We will be back for more!  8)

I got to go yesterday. The food was good and well priced, especially for San Marco. The space is terrific, it was refreshing to see them make a killer outdoor area instead of a parking lot.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Pretty much my experience this weekend as well.  They did an amazing job with the space.  Hopefully they have plans for some misting fans for the outside space for the summer months because it looks like the majority of their seating is in the outside patio.  The food was good and well priced.  Not the best bbq I have ever had but on par with Mojo's and 4 Rivers locally.

Went yesterday.  Wasn't blown away but it was pretty good, they've been open for 5 days so I can't fault it too much.  The space looks really nice.  My biggest complaint was the sauces, they need some work for sure.  Meat was pretty good, sides were OK.  I think Mojos and 4 Rivers have the edge food wise, but this place is brand new so time will tell.

I went to the Bearded Pig after eating at another newer bbq joint a few miles away recently, that didn't even have a smoker/fire pit. So, the bar was set a little lower. (Electric cooker, really?)  But I had the brisket and it was very tender, had a slight smoke flavor to it and I really dug on one of the sauces, it had a catchy, unique name but it escapes me at the moment. I believe it was the spicier one of the bunch. Some of the other sauces ones were probably not up to par for some but still above average.

Really though, if you're going to a bbq joint for the sauces and not the meat they're trying to make up for lack of flavor, IMO.

What was the name of the other newer bbq joint?

I went on Thursday and I thought it was pretty good.  My biggest complaint were the sides.  i got the baked beans and the mac n' cheese and it tasted like both had been made in the morning and sitting in a warmer all day.  The ribs were great and the brisket was ok.  They ran out of meat on Saturday and sunday, so I guess they're getting strong business.
