The ad placed in the Times Union, it's content and who helped pay for it has me beyond furious.  I was actually sickened by the feeble mindedness displayed in the comment about the people behind the HRO being the meanest people ever.  There are self serving people at play here and none of them are members of the GLBT community their straight allies and any other person who values civil rights.  First and foremost is the cult leader Daniels that this article is about but to their absolute shame comes the funding from Peter Rummell and Shad Khan's LLC to back her ad in a paper she publicly attacked for seeing through her nonsense. Crazy hypocritical stuff right there.  If you take nothing else away from the involvement of Rummell and Khan's LLC  with one delusional  self proclaimed pastor take this, they care about themselves and their agenda's first and their agenda's involve expanding their own wealth and control over our city and using it as a piggy bank launch pad to their own dreams.  What person or person's in their right mind would financially back a woman like Kimberly Daniels and put her yoke of stupidity around the necks of the citizens of taxpayers for four more years?  What thinking person would even consider backing Daniels when there is a stellar candidate in this race that we should all support in the person of Anna Lopez Brosch a sane and competent business woman and fair minded human being.  Any person who would use their wealth or influence to try and keep Daniels in office is not friend of Jacksonville but rather a person they know will do their bidding when it comes to issues and agenda's.  Make me horribly sick.  Rummell first offered up Alvin Brown to Jacksonville as the "right" guy when clearly he was not.  Then Rummell bashed him and offered up another "right" guy named Lenny Curry, a hard right conservative and tool of the GOP to replace Brown.  People the citizens of Jacksonville are secondary to the egos of these people.  Don't ever forget that.

This.  And this comment is going viral on social media. Congratulations diane.

I like when we agree.
I like when we agree too.  I hope people open their eyes Stephen.

This has all the earmarks of something terrible.  Inexplicable financial support for an otherwise mostly self funded candidate, whose 'platform' is as wacky as they come by some of the biggest money in the area.

Just prior to an approval process for major development deals.

With Anna Brosche available as a city council candidate, why would so much money be dumped into an otherwise unremarkable candidate?

It definitely seems hard to explain, and when things are hard to explain, there is usually a pretty simple reason.
Exactly.  There is no wholesome explanation to any of this.  It is pure financial manipulation of local politics aimed at putting weak minded, easily played individuals in public office that will fight for and rubber stamp legislation and agenda's of the rich, powerful or crooked in this city.  Sickening.

Of course there is rationale behind Rummel and Khan putting loads of money behind Kimberly Daniels.  At the end of the day, both of these men need City Council approval on large issues and what could be better than buying a City Council person and vote.  No integrity about Jacksonville here.....it's about getting projects approved by City Council.  She's not the only paid for by.......Khan & Rummel candidate.

Apache, I think Jax native explained me better than I could.  Regent Consultancy itself isn't shady, but at the time I was having trouble learning about it/them.  Because the address gives was in Illinois, it took me a while to find the Florida entity/listing.  It goes deeper.  Regent has given money to this outfit: http://workingforflfamilies.com which has in turn given money to a garden variety of conservative candidates and causes throughout Florida.

Not being an investigative reporter myself, I handed it over to someone with the time and talent to chase these rabbits down their holes... http://floridapolitics.com/archives/12133

I mean come on, this is just politics in general.  Why would you expect it to be any different here than any place else.

edjax

I am sure I over the years you could find money thrown at various candidates by the Skinners, Davises, Sleimans, etc in hopes a city council member vote their way on a certain project here and there.

Edjax,

Of course, you are right.  All those families have donated mega monies to candidates campaigns, "Over Time".  The gianornous problem I have it that it is still happening in 2015.  From Rummel and Khan.  Two people who have talked loudly and publicly about who they are supporting, but this money 30K came recently from places that tried to cover it up.  Why did Lee Ann Rummel give her 19K earlier this year?  Why didn't Peter Rummel publicly give her 20K?  Why are they hiding behind LLC and other corporations?  This is probably just the tip of the iceberg about what is happening w/ Khan that he needs COJ's help w/ his Shipyards project.

Exactly, this is politics as usual in many places from the top to the bottom and it has horribly corrupted our political system for far too long.  We may not be able to deal with the corruption at federal or even state levels but we sure as heck can deal with money and corruption at the local level. That means exposing the inner workings of big money, the powerful and how they use money to drive local politics and buy political representation for their own benefit.  Meanwhile our communities and many people in them suffer from all manner of problems from broken infrastructure to serious issues of crime.  We can't sit back and let a handful of people drive our city.  It belongs to us all and our hard earned dollars are what keeps it going to the point of impacting the lifestyle of ordinary citizens in a negative way. Those with agenda's continue to tap our resources and bleed us dry to make greater their personal fortunes or grow their own business interests.  Time for that to stop.
