Sarah Palin and family in Alaska party brawl

I think her point was that everyone has issues. Biden's son, Chelsea's father in law, and yes even the Palins at a party.

But it seems the Palins get jumped on pretty quickly by the press.

I wont deny that Sarah Palin may make some odd remarks, but they arent any more odd than some of Biden's weird rants.

But something about the Palins seems to draw more scrutiny and attention. The "Punished cuz i am conservative" is the easy line, but there is more to it than that.

Geraldine Ferraro had her post candidate family issues yet they werent media fodder like the Palins generate with the "hit and run" journalism.

True. However, the way I see it is if you put yourself out there in the media, which has been done in the past, you should expect the negative side of it too. Especially, when something crazy breaks out like a brawl where the whole family is involved.

It has nothing to do with being conservative. The Palins branded themselves as reality show tv family. What do they expect?

also Biden's son is 42 years old....pretty much independent.

the Palin girls are still somewhat under the watch of "mama bear"

All good points. You put yourself out there and you should expect some level of scrutiny.

But the Palins werent the only ones to do reality TV.

Gene Simmons Family Values
Hogans
Kate Plus 8
And a host of others.

No one in the media gives a rip when Simmons says something outlandish on women. Hardly anyone cared when a sex video on the Hulk showed up on the internet. A collective yawn anytime Kate Gosselin drags her kids in front of a camera.

But the Palins get in a scrape in a local party and it was a leading news item on 2 networks. Technically it was no more news worthy than the others, a kind of "so what?"

I think that is what I find odd.

But the Palins don't get the level of scrutiny that a Brittney Spears, Flavor Flav, Justin Beaver or Miley Cyrus gets.  I'm not sure this was even as big as Steve A Smith's comments on First Take during the Ray Rice fiasco.  Outside of MJ and a few random websites, I haven't heard anything about the Palin brawl. I don't think it's the political issue Bristol has attempted to make it out to be.

Really?  How many of those other people you named ran for Vice President?  How many of them could have been one 78-year old's heartbeat away from the presidency?  I think your grasping at straws to find it "odd" that the media would be interested.

One thing that was highly overblown on what she said was that there's land in Alaska that you can see Russia from (two small islands a mile apart in the middle of the ocean). That somehow turned into "I can see Russia from my house" mainly fueled by Tina Fey's SNL skit. Despite her being correct, it was a lazy, politically driven monologue of many comedians.

No straws Finehoe. Just vetting an observation.

I think you mean opinion.  Even a casual observer can recognize that having a former candidate for the second highest office in the United States and her family behaving like guests on The Jerry Springer Show is the kind of thing the media laps up.  I think what would have been "odd" is if they didn't cover it.

And I will certainly take that as your opinion as well. Thanks for the feedback.

Sarah Palin could have pushed towards becoming a credible conservative voice, despite the quick media backlash...if she wanted.

Instead, she chose to go the route of political schtick.
