This is pretty neat, JSO has put up a "calls for service" page that shows with a 30 minute delay what they're up to:

This webpage displays active dispatched calls for service made to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (in red), with a delay of 30 minutes. This page also displays calls for service that have recently been completed (in gray). The data on this page is refreshed automatically.

I'm guessing fancy/legal word for phone?

Can I make a police report over the telephone or does a police officer have to come to my house? Some reports can be taken over the telephone by the Sheriff's Office Teleserve unit. The receiving officer that answers your call can determine if your report can be handled over the telephone.
