According to another user "The project has stalled due to two primary donors pulling their support once they learned that the plan was not to fully fund the project through donations but to use raised funds to gain financing instead."

Sounds like it's indefinitely delayed. It's sad to see so many of these projects stalled/ceased due to funding.

For the Parador parking gargage, "Street level retail will be added once the adjacent Suntrust Tower reaches 65% occupancy." what is their current occupancy rate?

The building by the shell station on the 8th street side of broad street was being renovated until a fire last week caused it to haunt.  My guess is more apartments. Anyone know for sure?

Well seems like the typical things are still going on in Jax since I've moved. "Stalled", "Delayed", "Halted", "Funding Issues"... I pray that something comes together for Downtown / Brooklyn once my lease is up in Orlando next year. Maybe Laura Street Trio will have broken ground by then...

On a side note, JAX Chamber International Plaza has to be the ugliest building I've seen. That's supposed to represent the gateway to Downtown??

My guess is that we'll see light rail return to the S-line before we see a retail build-out of that parking structure. Translation = never.

I'm looking forward to the old library (Haydon Burns) becoming the Jessie Ball DuPont. Can't wait to see the inside of that building and how they handle the outside design features. I think it's a unique structure.

Yes, they're being renovated as apartments. The fire was a roofing accident, but all parties were insured so the work will continue...it'll just be a little more work than planned now. : )

FYI about the 8th Street project.

It's been ready to move forward for months, however Councilwoman Lee is holding up the process as she wants the $385,687 in funds appropriated for this project (and a larger $750k Eastside neighborhood development) to go to NW Jacksonville, instead.

At every meeting since the appropriation was introduced Councilwoman Lee has been able to get the action deferred. She doesn't want this money to go into the Springfield area and feels that it should be used for a project she wants to do at Moncrief Road and 13th St in Northwest Jax. She made that very clear in the latest RCD meeting. At the latest RCD meeting, Councilman Gaffney (who is not on the RCD) stood before the committee and spoke very poignantly in support of the project. He was promised that the committee will have a vote on this appropriation at the Next RCD Committee meeting which should be held Tuesday, June 3rd at 2:00.


And unrelated, the Beaver Street Villas project will probably take quite some time. It involves federal contracting, which can take f-o-r-e-v-e-r.

Very positive to see some things actually happening in San Marco. If only there was some way to unite San Marco, Riverside/Avondale, Brooklyn, Springfield, the sports complex and Downtown... Some sort of transit solution, maybe elevated in nature.

Seems like that might create the critical mass necessary to get past some of these funding issues in the core.
