Another residential tower??  Hmmm. Would the other tower be instead of the Mariott?  Exciting things perhaps beginning to happen.

These look awesome. However, that looks like a generous 700 SF to me...

jaxjaguar

That looks about right for 700 sq ft. Looks like the "master bedroom" is behind the sliding glass door with the bathroom door and front door off to the right. I lived in an 800 sq ft student apartment in Orlando. Keep in mind the bedrooms in student housing are typically 9 x 10 or 10 x 11. If there's no wash room / dish washer / storage closest (as is typical of student living) than 2 x 2 apartments are completely reasonable.

PS I saw them putting up renderings of the outside on the windows of the building while riding my bike a few minutes ago.... This place is going to be awesome! Just what downtown needs.

Looks really nice. I could go for an apartment like that.

Wow this looks great! With that timeline they will definitely beat out East San Marco and might even come online before the Brooklyn-Riverside does.

Great to see something like this going on with the historic buildings.  I applaud those involved making this happen, lets hope it goes smoothly for the sake of potential future projects similar in concept.  The Brooklyn area will soon consist of mostly modern style design and amenities, which is fine in my opinion since there really wasn't anything there before construction began, but the historic buildings in other areas like downtown need to be renovated/restored not replaced with modern high-rises.  This will help keep Jax linked with its past which is critically important for any city.

What is the story on the other residential tower?

A new building is planned on the vacant site across the street. It was supposed to be apart of the Laura St Trio/Marriott project.

^^thanks for the info.  I think that is why people were asking if the Mariott is still in the mix on the other thread.  If that vacant lot is now to be residential then still the room to accommodate a Mariott and parking garage??

^I think the plans may have changed over time, but they've usually included new construction by the Laura Street Trio as well as a parking garage serving all the buildings (the Trio, the new construction, and the Barnett.)
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Where does the new residential tower talk come from? That may not be totally accurate.

^I think there was talk about a new residential building some time ago, and there have been a number of rumors floating around involving the Barnett building. That may be where the confusion is coming from. As of the last couple of months, the plans for the Trio have involved the Marriott concept, which included the Trio buildings and new construction the last time it was reported.

2010 rendering for new building and Trio

When first announced back in 2010 or so, the proposed building next to the Florida Life Building was supposed to be residential. At that point, the Barnett was supposed to be the hotel component.

Last year, things switched to the Trio/proposed building parcel being the hotel use and the Barnett being an educational component.  Last Summer, it was announced that the Trio/new building would become a Courtyard by Marriott. Detailed news about the Barnett was never released until this past week.

So at this point, it appears that the Trio/new building will be the Courtyard by Marriott (with the Marble Bank being an upscale restaurant....same as in 2010) and the Barnett will become what's been recently described.
