My wife & I almost purchased a home in Murray Hill a few years ago. It's a cool little neighborhood with a ton of small homes ideal for people on a budget. Purchased and sold several pieces of furniture at Robin's through the yesrs  (she's a character).

The only negatives were the lack of sidewalks & larger homes, which were "musts" for us.

Great to see it coming into it's own. I think it's close.

Here's a snippet. By 1925, Murray Hill had become known as Murray "Bottom".

Maybe the "Hill" wasn't so high after all...

The freshening revamp of the streetscapes and subsequent resurgence in popularity rise is wonderful to see taking deeper effect in Murray Hill!
And possibly somewhat surprising there are larger homes with spare lots in the existing inventory.
Great little village feel!
Thanks to you all for your tireless work to save one of our much needed libraries!

The guy who's named in the image above and pictured below, found Murray Hill to be a great place to do business in the 1960s.  However, his investments amounted to a swift kick in the crotch for downtown Jacksonville.

There's a reason Jacksonville wanted Murray Hill and it had something to do with this Central Florida city....

Jax was a different place 100 years ago.  It's quite possible more than a few of these guys were Murray Hill residents.

Al Poindexter Ron Spencer and Eric Wendorf usually play at the Fringe Eatery on Edgewood (Muray Hill) on Fridays at noon.  Thanks Stephen Dare for recommending the place.  Great food and atmostsphere!!

I like MH. The houses are affordable, nicely sized, etc. Really about the only things I don't like are the neighborhood isn't really self sustaining (which is getting better) & its on the outer rim of the the core so it doesn't feel quite as connected. Couple this with the lack of sidewalks & it can sometimes feel a bit suburban. Not a bad thing, just a matter of opinion.

BTW, how hard would it be to put sidewalks in?

Ennis....the folks in Tampa would like you to refer to them as west central Florida :)

The Murray Hill Theatre was more or less identical with the old Arlington Theatre.  Their ads ran together in the newspaper and they always showed the same movies.  The same person must have owned both.  I never went to the Murray Hill, but did go to the Edgewood Theatre a few times.  That movie house, of course, is now the Jones College facility shown above.

Tell them to suck it up and start acting like Orlando's big brother.....instead of the other way around!
