I'm trying to figure out the actual sin here. Is it men dressing up like women? The lip syncing to Diana Ross? Hamburgers??

Seriously, is there a rule book they follow somewhere, or are they just making it up as they go?
You said it P!  The whole thing is so foolish and yet it shows how very misled and mean spirited "some"(and I emphasize the word some) who pretend to preach in the name of God can be. This is just so misguided and judgmental an action.

Perhaps this comes down to the hamburgers being far to sensuous for mortals. lol  I am guessing that is the problem cause the people working at HM are lovely, funny, kind folk.  :)  As far as drag is concerned, perhaps the pastor doesn't understand that men have been entertaining and performing for thousands of years dressed as women. From Rome, to China and beyond.

Milton Berle was famous for dressing up as a woman....and that was acceptable on 50's tv.  Of course, he wasn't Baptist.

You seem to love to post Timmy bare chested.  Something you want to share?

LOL!

I dont think I would want to share, actually. ;)

To carry this joke to the next level...  First of all this will be the most outrageous post I've ever done.  I have a wacky Aunt who is so over the top and this kind of fits in to her wayward thinking.  Anyhow Mr. Stephendare you will not have a snowball's chance in hell because someone else has already come to call on a certain football player.  According to my Aunt they are an item.  Lol joke joke.

I think we are all missing the point here... Shannon Wallace was part of this church, and this church had certain rules and regulations. If he wanted to attend this event at this establishment then perhaps he should have resigned, especially considering that I'm sure it was a violation of the contract he signed to work at the chuch. It is not a gay or straight issue. If he had attended a straight strip club event then in my opinion it would have been just as wrong. The bottom line is that somebody who is in a leadership position, at a CHURCH, doesn't have any business being at a place like that. Everybody commenting on this particular issue expects those of us who have different opinions to either keep them to ourselves, or accept your beliefs. And I don't. I have my opinion, and I don't judge others for there's. I may not agree with the homosexual lifestyle, but I have friends who are gay and I don't love them any less because of what they do or believe. To me that is how Christians should be, you don't have to accept everything about everybody, as long as you love them. I work in the medical field and I am required to sign certain legal documents, and rules and regulations prior to starting a job. If I didn't agree with what I was signing, then I wouldn't work at that facility, plain and simple. That being said, I do believe he should have lost his job. Churches have a right to expect more out of people who are in a leadership position. I've lost all respect for this man, and his wife who was also in attendance.

Wow!!!!  I frankly find it shocking that anyone would allow the rules of an entity like a church to put parameters around their personal choices and actions to this degree. It amazes me that individuals are so fearful of being rejected by a church organization that they would allow a private entity to tell them where they can go to eat a hamburger. I find it a weakness and not a strength when someone allows another this much control in their lives.  Are some so insecure in their own judgements of what is right that they would allow the rules of a single church and pastor place controls over their lives and actions like this?  It is cult like behavior in many ways and to my view a frightening thing. IMO

@ Steph7  You are judging. Do you eat Shrimp? Were you a virgin when you married? Do you wear cotton/wool blends? Is slavery okay with you? Is pig skin offensive to you? If someone was fired for any of those things, would you support it? Can I have a tattoo of a cross? Where is the line? I thought this was America, and people were free to eat at a restaurant. I guess the CHURCH wants total control.

We are talking about a persons lively hood. You seriously want to blame the wife, too!

Homosexuality isn't a lifestyle any more than someone born left handed or blue eyed. Do some research before you go labeling or judging a person.

I'm confused how you even work in the medical field. Do you impose your opinions on your patients also?

I am very tolerant and respectful of the religious freedoms in this county. I am simply stating my views about the actions of some religious organizations and questioning why people subvert themselves this way, to the point that having a burger someplace can cause you to lose you job with that organization.  The entire issue here had to do with the actions within one church and frankly it is that church and it's members who live by their own rules which is their own choice. It does not mean however that folks outside the church will not want to "discuss and question" those actions, if not for the sake of conversation and simply and attempt to understand the motives behind actions like this.  My question is why folks feel the need to belong to organizations that put themselves at their control?  Of course everyone has the right to allow this in their own lives and churches and I am tolerant of that fact although amazed by it.  lol  :)

Seems like we're missing the most important thing about this pastor's dinner.  How was the hamburger?

I don't believe its a strip joint... I have eaten there and attended shows there a few times, and never once seen anyone strip totally down. Maybe our christian friends are confused what a burlesque show is.

Exactly Ennis!  lol I am guessing it was excellent as they usually are.

Dem, you are right, this is not a strip joint however it does become so much more the harbor of sinful activity if it can be described as one.  lmao  Goodness gracious.

My one and only complaint is that I can never hear Alicia Key's - 'Girl on Fire' without picturing a 6'-6", 320lb, black crossdresser with hands so large I'm pretty sure he could palm a VW Beetle....

I used to really like that song.
