QuoteJACKSONVILLE, Fla. -
The music pastor of Arlington Baptist Church has resigned in a dispute over his choice of eating establishments.

Shannon Wallace is a fan of Hamburger Mary's in St Nicholas, which has live entertainment on the weekend featuring female impersonators.

Church members say that decision by Wallace to resign came after the pastor of the church learned that Wallace had eaten at the restaurant.

Neither Wallace (pictured, right) nor church leaders would comment on the situation.

Managers at the restaurant say Wallace and his wife were there to take part in a charity event. The general manager of the restaurant says she's outraged over this entire controversy.

"We are not here just to support the gay lifestyle. We are here for anyone, whoever they are," said Chef Z Zimmerman, of Hamburger Mary's. "I'm outraged, if this is what happened. You should not be fired based on where you attend."

Some of Wallace's supporters aren't happy about the situation and are planning a protest at the church next weekend.

Seen this on the news. I guess all christians should stop going out to eat. If there are gay waiters in applebee's you may lose your job at the church  ::) If there is a drag queen in the booth next to you, you may go to hell. Seriously, Im a christian. Church every sunday, sing in the choir and all. This stuff to me is very disturbing. This is why chrisitans have a bad reputation now.

Unbelievable, but believable...we live in Baptistville!  I wonder if any Baptists were fired for eating at Joann's Chili Bordello or for going to see The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas or The Vagina Monologues. I guess Hooters and Dick's Wings are Baptist approved restaurants because I sure see a lot of Baptist there!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/22/tim-tebow-american-family-association-cancels-church-christian_n_2742119.html

The American Family Association (AFA) attacked NFL player Tim Tebow for canceling an appearance at an anti-gay church, claiming that he "caved" to the "liberal media" and has lost his "street cred." Readers, in turn, slammed the conservative group for its response.

It all started when news surfaced on Feb. 14 that Tebow was scheduled to speak in April at First Baptist Church of Dallas, a Texas megachurch led by senior pastor Robert Jeffress and known for anti-gay, anti-Catholic, anti-Semitic rhetoric. An uproar ensued, and Tebow announced on Feb. 21 that he had cancelled the appearance due to "new information" brought to his attention.

After the Jets player nixed the gig, the AFA took to its One News Now website and Twitter (with the hashtage #TebowCaves) to bash Tebow for ostensibly crumbling under media pressure, David Badash from The New Civil Rights Movement reports. But once readers began criticizing the AFA's argument, the group allegedly took down the piece and refocused it.

Via The New Civil Rights Movement:

Last night, the article had well over 200 comments, the vast majority of them slamming not Tim Tebow, but the American Family Association and the head of its One News Now “news” website, Tim Wildmon.
The readers were so angry that One News Now removed the story (note the “404″ not found) and republished it, drastically changing the focus from trying to create a Frankensteinian peoples’ villager burning of Tim Tebow, to one claiming “This was more of a story about the bullying by the media.”

Still, prominent AFA members maintain that Tebow has wronged Christians.

AFA spokesman and "Focal Point" radio program host Bryan Fischer posted a lengthy diatribe against Tebow on his Facebook page on Thursday, alleging that the cancellation diminishes the football player's "street cred with the Christian

Old news. One thing that is certain, man doesn't agree and neither do Christians.

Yup, that definitely overshadows the many murdered each day around the world under the followers of Allah... Just sayin' if you're gonna put a religion on blast and all. Meanwhile 'PC' USA looks the other way...

Great point. Because as we all learned in kindergarten, two wrongs make a right.

If you wanna compare a couple of sinful aberrations to actual beheadings, then fine they are all 'wrongs'...

I dont think I would want to share, actually. ;)

Uh Oh.  Some Baptist on Baptist action.

I think a Tim Tebow/Stephen Dare partnership could change the world.

I'm trying to figure out the actual sin here. Is it men dressing up like women? The lip syncing to Diana Ross? Hamburgers??

Seriously, is there a rule book they follow somewhere, or are they just making it up as they go?
