This kid is passionate and severely disappointed.

He's not unique.   

This video reminds me of another thread on education on MJC in which the OP essentially blamed black kids for the failures of the system.

We keep blaming students for the failures of those in charge of education. We still use boring lines like "kids today" or "the media's fault" or even "parental neglect". So, what do we do? We create legislation because a rap artists said something about weed in his lyrics and his influence is the obvious reason kids are rebelling. Or, we blame Mtv (and we are always right to blame Mtv, seriously!).

I'm happy this was caught on tape. At minimum it will save him from getting into trouble for refusing to be another "brick in the wall."

I would like to know more about the 'packet' that the student is referring to in this video clip.  The 'packet,' in many cases, is state or district-mandated and would mean serious reprisals if the teachers did not stick to the material they were provided.  Yes, we educators can teach outside of the box, but we have a serious price to pay.  If this 'packet' was indeed mandated by higher ups, the teacher's perceived laziness is merely another example of the price of conformity...
