This worries me; does anyone have any insight/hunches at what depth the Corps is recommending?  What's our recourse?

the only thing that worries me is that we are even considering dredging more than what the ACOE believes is defensible....if the Port doesn't get the ACOE to buy off on a deeper number, than only local/state money can be used to dredge beyond that depth....seems to me like 45 feet is quite reasonable.

I'm not sure of the number but it seems pretty evident it's not where they want it.  Nevertheless, I've been saying for years that we needed a viable Plan B because Plan A (win the super panamax race) never seemed realistic to me.  Seems like we'll need that gas tax, the mobility fee, and more if we truly want to compete economically and create well paying jobs.

Agreed.  Our river is in bad enough shape as it is.  Dredging it in the pursuit of some fantasy will be the death knell.
