If you are a young professional that lives, works or plays in Riverside/Avondale there is a young professional group meeting RAP180 tomorrow at 6PM at Elevated Avondale.  Free appetizers, drink specials and we'll be talking about several cool projects you can get involved with that will help the neighborhood.  This is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and more importantly make an impact on your community.  What's the worse that can happen?  You'll eat some free food and enjoy cheap drinks.

Hope to see a few of you there tomorrow!

I'll try to be there as well.  I'd like to start getting more involved with the communities that I'm involved with both professionally and personally.

Awesome, so glad you'll stop by tomorrow!

I consider myself one (perhaps erroneously?), but what exactly is a young professional to you?

fieldafm

Generally 35 and younger, however if you are older... please stop by anyway.  We need some creative minds on a few projects that will promote walkability in the neighborhood.

I'd love to come but I've got too many meetings on my docket this afternoon.  Is there a way to review what will be discussed to see how I can plug in?

Why have this meeting at a place that is fighting growth in Avondale???

We'll be discussing projects that will help the 'growth problems' in Riverside/Avondale and need help to implement them.  It's time to start presenting solutions instead of bickering about the problems.  If that type of thing interests you, you may want to consider attending.

Amusing coming from a group associated with RAP.  Good luck.

Worst case scenario (barring you don't drink and don't enjoy the free appetizers), you are proven right and you know what's going on aside from what you see on a computer screen.  Best case scenario we as the next generation of Jacksonville's concerned citizens has a chance for a conversation about bettering our city.

I was a skeptic at first, but I think that something positive will come from young people showing up and speaking out.  If it seems like the old guard is trying to bring us over to the dark side, I'm going to start flipping tables.  As long as I'm there, there will be no WLA-style rhetoric.

Agree.  I really do hope something good comes of it.  I just wish this was an initiative outside of RAP as I believe that organization is one of the major impediments to solution building.  RAP and its leadership are not interested in solutions.  Also wish it was open to those older than 35.
