I had the morning off yesterday so I thought I'd make the trip down to The Avenues and check out the grand opening of H&M (and score whatever first day discounts they were offering), and boy was it way more intense than I anticipated.

The line started all the way at Vision Works, a ways down from where the actual store's location, and was filled with people who had been waiting for the 12 p.m. opening for at least two hours.  Thankfully, the line moved fast and before I knew it, I was getting ushered in by security guards who were ensuring the line stayed in order (I only caught one lady trying to cut in, but she tripped over the belt blocking people off before she was ordered to the back of the line).

Once inside, I was greeted by a clapping crowd of H&M associates, as well as a DJ, and received a coupon for 10% off my entire purchase.

The women's floor of course was filled with women eager to get clothes in their sizes before anyone else snatched them up, and after a while of getting pushed, shoved and even pulled by a few hangers lingering from people's arms, I decided it was time to check out what the upstairs section had in store.  As I assumed, the men's section was way more orderly.  In addition to the men's section was the kid/baby isle, extra dressing rooms, and an extra check-out counter.

Through the chaos, I managed to snag some great-fitting black and blue jeans for $19.95 each, a $9.95 Fleetwood Mac tee, a 2 pack pair of tights for $9.95, and a 4 pack of earrings for $5.95.  My boyfriend got a pair of black jeans for $29.95, a 3/4 plain burgundy shirt for $9.95, and a button down for $19.95.

All of the employees were extremely friendly, helpful, and kept calm throughout all the excitement.  All in all, the much anticipated grand opening seemed like a huge success for H&M, and I can only hope for great things for them in the future.
