Kool Beans Cafe will be opening soon, and they'll talking about their plans and providing refreshments at tonight's Community Meeting (Thursday 7/26), 6:30pm at the Wells Fargo building - 6th & Main.

The featured speaker is the St. Johns Riverkeeper (http://www.metrojacksonville.com/forum/index.php/topic,15579.0.html), but I thought this was pretty cool unto itself too.

Join us if you can.

I'm going to try and attend...after the JTA meeting

So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

This will be a great addition to the Springfield community.

The owner was at the meeting this evening, and announced that the opening will be last week of August or first week of September. Sounds like a cool place. Using coffee from a local roaster (not Maxwell house ;-)... forgot the name, but it is on Beaver Street). They will also resell the coffee. Hours are planned 7am-2pm. Maybe open late on weekends (Fr/Sa). There will be some light breakfast/lunch food.

The place will be open during the Main Street Cruise, but will not sell food/coffee. He has some local vendors that will have stands set up inside.

Probably Condaxis. http://www.yelp.com/biz/condaxis-coffee-and-tea-jacksonville

Sounds like a good addition. Just wish the hours were better. :(

Stopped by last night during the Cruise - Sam Hunt has done an amazing job with this building - it is GORGEOUS!

I had a sneak peek at the menu and can't wait to go back for lunch in August.

Would that be, by any chance, Condaxis Coffee?

John P

I knocked on the door yesterday. He said he is going to open in a few weeks officially.

Timkin, yes he's buying from Condaxis, and will have it retail too.  Sam plans to be open by the Car Cruise this month.

I had lunch there yesterday and ordered espresso and some type of pasta. Didnt this used to be the Epicurean cafe years ago?

I had breakfast there a week ago.  Awesome Quiche.

The decor is fantastic.  Along with the Sam's passion and personality, it really is a great place.  Sam did mention that traffic was kind of slow for the mornings though.

Love the atmosphere!  Love the pasta!  Love Sam!  Doesn't get any better!

Yes, it was the Epicurean.  As things changed in Springfield, the Epicurean tried to evolved so it could stay in Springfield, but in the end, an illness got to Lisa and she had to close.  She has since passed from this world but she would be happy that Sam, a good friend and a frequent Epicurean patron, has done a great job getting the building in shape and that he has brought back to Springfield a cool place to eat and drink.

See you soon, Sam!

Very good, home-made food! I've stopped by, literally, 10 times in the past few weeks for food or coffee.
