ok its here! Time to register kids for Sustainable Springfield's Kids Program. The program will be 8 weeks, each Saturday beginning March 3 at 10am. The goal of the curriculum will be to teach kids about Urban Ecology, Local Food Systems, and growing their own food. The program is modeled after a program in Boston and we are very blessed to have someone who has worked at that program to teach!

Meghan Belkot is a graduate student at Lesley University. She is a candiate for a Master of Arts specializing in anthropology and sustainable food systems. Meghan is a resident of Duval County. She seeks to increase the participation, awareness and importance of educating youth and residents of the Springfield neighborhood community about sustainable local community based agriculture projects and urban ecosystems. Meghan will instruct the kids gardening classes to be held on Saturday mornings for eight weeks begininng March 3, 2012 at 10:00am.

If you have a middle or high school kid, or a neighbor who maybe interested, please email us for an application. There is a $200 stipend the kids will receive at the end and space is limited. sustainablespringfield@yahoo.com
