Dangerous Sidewalk at College & King

Walked into this thing last night and nearly broke my foot (literally - went to the ER and got X-rays).  Never noticed it before, and I've walked home from Kickbacks many times, so it can't have been there for long.  Looks like there was a sign there, and somebody cut it off but left about 6" of the post sticking up out of the sidewalk?!  I've called the city and reported it, but we'll see how long it takes them to handle it.

Just a friendly FYI - if you're heading east on College from King, watch your step as you pass the Goodwill office.

Dog Walker

Brian,

See if someone around has one of those orange cones you could put over it.
When all else fails hug the dog.

Judging from the duck tape, it looks like someone might have made a feeble attempt at repairing said sign....

Are you sure that you didn't notice any mischieviousness going on during your walk?   ;)

Has all the duck tape from Orsay been accounted for?
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Some drunk driver neatly sliced it off....You can tell from the lack of skid marks. :o
Or...some red neck needed a light bar for His/Her truck? (Honey!! hand me that cordless sawzall thing willya!)

Have you reported this to the city?

So a friend of one of my employees walked into this thing a few nights ago and injured her foot, and I now feel like a jackass for not immediately (well, after my foot healed, at least) taking it upon myself to fix a dangerous situation on the street I live on.  Since the city has been unresponsive, by this weekend I'll have the thing cut level and filled in.

In the meantime, be careful King Street patrons.  There is, as Melanie put it in her email to me, a "stupid pole sticking out of the sidewalk" on College Street.
