I agree Jacksonville is a cool place.  Thank you Mr. White for sharing your enthusiasm with us.

And let's not forgot that we have one of the top arts schools in the nation at Douglas Anderson.

Nice article, Robert. Our city has so much going for it.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

This is a great article, very well-written. And thank you for sharing, definitely opened by eyes up to some new things!

Why is it that I read this article with a sense of dismay? I don't understand this huge, constant and repeated disconnect between the city and well, the city. It's as though everything that we have that is special was somehow designed to keep it from actually touching the fabric of our community. Why do we have to spread the message of "did you know [insert amazing fact]" about our city in relation to the arts, parks, river, history...etc. We have all of these awesome assets and they feel like they are lost to most of us...including me.

^I think people see what they are looking for.  I'm not sure what the disconnect is.  Arbus magazines are available free at most urban restaurants.  They are a great source of information.

Great article.  Bob White could have gone on much further and added:  Art Walk, Riverside Arts Market, other medical-arts programs, Riverside Fine Arts Festival, the Jacksonville Airport award-winning art, our art magnet schools, and so on.  He alluded to it...a major art centric event is in the works for 2013, which will be of nationwide importance.  Astonishing isn't it!
