We need bookstores

The 6th Grade Leninist
It seems like a pressing issue for me and my family is that there are not many things to do without leaving our area and thus going somewhere farther away than we would wish to go.
We love Ron Chamblin's bookmines, they are fantastic, but a barnes and noble would do us good. Hopefully not in the area of chamblins, hopefully small, and hopefully looking to do business with the chamblins bookmine, i would hope that it would not in any way steal customers from such a great nearby bookstore.
This Barnes and Noble would, in a perfect world, give books to chamblins every hour. but, we don't live in a perfect world. still, that doesn't mean chamblins couldn't benefit from the work.
With all of the people going to Barnes & Noble, for every 100 dollars that B&N makes, they would donate 1 new book, a new popular book, to the store. The "B&N&Connection".
I don't know how it would exactly work but I just hope that no customers of chamblins would be lost to a chain.
The tSMR has the Avondale Line with the A B & C, leading to the Acosta station (last stop from YMCA station). The Acosta Station begins the Metro line with the D E & F. Transfers available at the Acosta station.
"Next stop... Park Street - Boone Park."

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

What is a Leninist? :)
A leninist, like me, is a person who believes in the political views of the late and great Vladimir Lenin.
That's my own definition.
Personally I don't support his attacks on the churches tho.

But you do support the red terror and the great purges? What are you smoking? Are you a big fan of Hitler as well? Or are you one of those kids that has a thing for glorious mother russia but didn't bother reading up on the atrocities that the "late and great Lenin" initiated.

So, you also want to import a national bookstore chain to compete with a local used bookstore that has a vastly superior collection and actually improves the community in which it operates? Times are tough, I've been able to keep buying books at Chamblin- if I were forced to pay BN's retail prices, I would've given up a long time ago.

Grow up.

You mean like the Gulags and mass executions?

You gotta be kidding me?

A leninist longing for a corporate bookstore? WTF.

And FWIW, Chamblins off Roosevelt is 10,000 times better than a Borders, they have a far better selection. Actually if I had to guess, I think Ron Probably has a much better selection than the library.

You do know Lenin wasn't alive during the Great Purges, right?

And, say what you will (I agree-the man did some terrible things), but Lenin doesn't even come close to Hitler.

That being said, I highly doubt this guy is a REAL Leninist...I mean, what kind of pinko wants MORE boxed chains run by fat-cat corporations!?

NotNow

iLenin has stated that he is in the sixth grade.  I would suppose that he/she is mirroring what is taught in the home.  I would hope that we respond to him/her in the appropriate manner for a sixth grader.

this thread is a little to strange for me.

I-10east

I'm kinda tired of people comparing the big corporate giant (Barnes & Noble, Walmart etc) vs the Mom & Pop little guy (Chamblins, Scottie Stores). Why can't we accept both (big & little) for what they are.

*Insert the obligatory negative Walmart tirade*

But his wonderful ideology paved the way for them. Didn't even mention the millions that died under Mao.

As far as big vs little goes, I agree- there is room for both and Jacksonville and we indeed have both here. I really don't think we "need" one in this area. Honestly, I'd prefer an electronics store on this side of town and they're about as corporate as you can get.

Well the kid is like 12 years old. I think he's got plenty of time to do that.

Books are soooo twentieth century.  Buy an ipad or kindle for Pete's sake! :)
