Very cool! I know this isn't the place for this but I have no outlet to vent about this anywhere else.

Why are there so many people resistant to DTWD who write into the Ozone?? It's definitely died down tremendously, but for such a long time so many people would voice their displeasure because they didn't relate to Duval. So stupid. Do they also have an issue with calling the team the "Jacksonville" Jaguars? Arrgh so  ridiculous. /rant

Just guessing that the ones complaining about DTWD are of an older demographic

To be clear, I'm not saying you cant criticize it for legitimate reasons. I do like Duval and DTWD but I can get that not everyone is going to. However, to say you dont like it cause it doesnt represent you since you live in St Johns County (which seemed to have the most naysayers) was the part that peeved me.

Anyway, it's not a big deal just something I've never gotten to vent about.

The whole #DTWD/Duuuval thing really is a pretty cool reflection of how far this city has come in terms of civic pride and self-worth in the last decade.

This is part of that unmeasurable QOL you get by having an NFL franchise.  We all know how the general feeling around the city is when the team is losing, since we've been consistently doing it for the last decade.

But there's basically another entire generation out there that has no clue what life is like when you're in a city with a winning (dominantly) franchise.  They're starting to get an idea.

I was at a social media conference a few months ago where the Jags social media folks presented. Sure enough, a journalist in the audience asked them if they were alienating fans from the other counties with the "Duval" thing. They just responded that not everybody will like anthing, but this one was organic, and they view it as inclusive of the entire market and fanbase, just as "Jacksonville" is despite not all fans living in the city limits. I think it's one of those things that folks will either get used to, or it'll fade.

Love the idea to rebrand the seven-county area as "Greater Jacksonville" almost as much as I hate the tagline, "The Water Life Center of America."

I had almost forgotten about "Water Life Center of America"!  When I grow up I want to be a consultant who is paid lots of money to come up with stupid names.

I never liked the 'Duval' thing for two main reasons:

1) I'm from Jacksonville, not Duval County (if you know what I mean).
2) The traditional pronunciation of Duval has the (or had the) stress on the second syllable. To me DU-val sounds as weird as when Ronald Reagan pronounced it in a way where the second syllable rhymed with 'gal'.

In any event, it's totally a non-issue. But I think it's dumb and if you can't care too much about stupid things, where's the fun in life?
