Just kidding
Good, because if the Jags had Kap, we wouldn't have been *in* the AFC championship game. I'm surprised you seem to give no dap whatsoever to Blake [1] being in his first year of this offense with Hackett, [2] playing without his number one WR, and [3] having to rely on a WR corps decimated by injuries and a lack of experience.

Amazing how many people completely gloss over those facts while talking about how fortunate the team was on defense.

Give Blake a TE threat, a serious threat, and he could be dynamic with a 2nd year Fournette better understanding the run-blocking schemes and a WR corps that can catch better and run routes better.

I'm hoping we don't waste money on Cousins or some other QB.

Aww man.

Have not heard about the shield being gone.

What I have heard is that new uniforms will be unveiled in April, prior to the draft. A press conference is already being planned around it.

Two tone helmet is gone.

There will be more teal, to give the team more identity.

The Jags just announced that they're removing tarps for all home games next season.

Interesting choice that I'm not sure I agree with.

The fan support is definitely there for this team, but that doesn't change our market size.

70,000 seats would put us at like ~10th in the league in terms of stadium size, while sitting at like ~30th in terms of market size.

Just don't think this market can sustainably meet that demand.

pierre

It is still 70k without the tarps?

It feels like with the removal of the NEZ seats for the cabana area and the club seat reconfiguration that it would be lower than that.

With the blackout rule finally staked like the vampire it was, there's no point in the tarps. The only reason they're still there is to make it look nicer on TV (and for all the hot takers out there who go on about crowd sizes). But I don't know that tarps actually look nicer, especially if there's ever a chance they'd sell some of the untarped seats.

The tarps were a hideous eyesore. Good riddance.

I think capacity is something like 67,700 with the tarps removed.  It was 64,200-ish with the tarps in place and I think around 3,500 seats were covered.  For the playoff game where we drew over 69k, that included something like 1400 standing room tickets.

By comparison, capacity was 67,164 in the late 2000s/early 2010s, before the renovations to establish the pool deck and update the clubs, when there were 10,000 tarped seats.

67,932. Per Jaguars spokesperson Amanda Holt in WJCT article.

67k puts them in the bottom half of the league and close to small markets like Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Seems reasonable.

It is.  It was 77k before the new Clubs and Cabana (no tarps).  The Buffalo game saw nearly 70k including standing room only.

Its 84k for Florida Georgia with the additional bleachers.

I think it's safe to say "Georgia-Florida" for the next several years......... 8)

I'm sure they're also anticipating more nationally televised games next year too - being relevant in the division, and sexy matchups coming to town (Pittsburgh and New England).

KenFSU

You guys are right, I forgot that the 70k for the untarped Buffalo game also included standing room tickets.

That said, even with our first home playoff game in 20 years, anyone there that day knows that at least 15,000 of those tickets were purchased by Bills fans.

You guys might vehemently disagree, but I think 60k is the ideal sweet spot for this market. I know we can't because of Florida-Georgia, but I'd rather see seats removed or sections re-purposed than seats added.

Even with a great team this season, there were still tons of open seats in the non-tarped sections for every game except Seattle, and we still needed to rely on visiting teams to help pad sales.

68,000 seats are going to be really hard to fill and keep filled until Jacksonville grows a little bit more, and the second you put them back on if you realize they're more than the market can bare, all the same tired jokes about relocation are going to come back.

Also, in the perception vs. reality department, I wish there was something that could be done to incentive people in the upper deck to actually sit in their seats, rather than watch the game from the Bud Zone. When you've got thousands of people buying tickets in the upper decks but watching the entire game from the Bud Zone, it really adds to the perception than the local support isn't there too.

I do, however, love the decision to lower concession prices down to only $5 for hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, and the other stadium staples. If you're going to flood the market with additional ticket supply, it makes a lot of economic sense to lower the price of the game day experience.

Can't wait to see the unis in Spring, even though I'm really hoping the shield comes back.
