Blizz01, it's totally opposite in my world. I rarely come in contact with people on a day-to-day basis making a fuss about it. If anything, I've had more contact with people who don't care and those that call themselves boycotting the sport until Kaep gets picked up by a team. As for me, I tell them if they don't want to go, then don't. The game will still be played for the rest of us. And for those willing to use their platform, whatever that platform is, to improve and bring awareness to social justice issues, go for it.

Blizz summed up the protest perfectly:   " Instead, I had to listen to that fellow on the Fox broadcast say "Jagwahs" incessantly."

He watched from home. Now that's a boycott!

Thank you Sir!  ( Trump's idea of a boycott: watch it from home!)

Hey everyone, BLIZZ01 protested by watching at home.   I love it.

(Do you think it hurt the ratings?)

Seriously, stop hyperventilating.  As stated before, I had every intention of going - and, will continue to go in the future.  Way to thin slice my response in an effort to prop up your narrative - whatever that may be.

Sorry. Just laughing out loud.

The sad fact is, Kaepernick was protesting perceived social injustice, not the miltary, not the flag, nothing like that at all.

(The same basic concept that Muhammad Ali demonstrated  when he went to jail instead of serving in Vietnam.

One man is a great American hero, the other a fool.)

It was the Prez who took it and made a total falsehood out of it for political purposes. That's a seriously sick person.

Nailed it.

The "disrespecting the military" narrative really only works if you're ignorant or a racist.

Khan's right, great divider indeed.

I don't remember... did RGIII protest something too?
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

pierre

A year or two late on that move.

Yeah I remember a lot of those folks as well. Though they mostly comprised borderline NFL fans anyway, but they were very genuine about boycotting until Kaep was signed.

This is weird...I distinctly recall watching a news piece on a former Packers player who is a diehard NFL fan and even an occasional professional analyst, who was giving up the sport to support Kaepernick. I was wondering if he'd continued or changed his mind in light of the new protests, but now I can't find any info about it to begin with. I swear I watched this...5-10 minutes and I think it was national news...so strange. My memory was Leroy Butler but it may have been someone else. Now, google shows me nothing...

I usually watch Red Zone on Sundays and I will tell you attendance was down in a lot of places. Last week the California teams were pitiful. These owners gambled on California and I really don't think it will pay off at all. The Chargers can't sell out a 25K venue. they left a very good fan base for this. The LA Coliseum looks very bare but I will give them that thing is massive. SF is having issues with attendance. they built a stadium in the middle of nowhere with traffic nightmares getting in and out. Good job, SF.
Attendance is clearly a growing issue and I don't think the anthem is the root issue.  Sure it may keep a few fringe fans home, but the overall product is bland and people aren't wanting to deal with it much anymore. Gone are the days of cities handing out lucrative tax incentives and helping pay for "stadium improvements". That is the one and only one area I am  glad is coming up in this debate. The amount of tax dollars we sink into these are astounding. how long will we be paying off those video boards? Long after they are replaced, I wager. We gave away our future Convention Center money for this. Many cities do the same and worse. Viewership is falling as well as attendance. the money train is coming to a  stop. Adapt or flounder.

I don't remember... did RGIII protest something too?

Not exactly.  He wore a Know Jesus / Know Peace t-shirt after getting injured and was told to turn it inside out prior to a post-game interview to avoid another fine.

The media played it out as a bigger deal than it was.  Shocking, right?

So THATS why he isn't playing.  I wasn't sure...

An apology by Lamping.Interesting.

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/sports/nfl/jacksonville-jaguars/jaguars-president-apologizes-to-city-over-london-anthem-protest/483944156

Should be noted that it's not an overt apology for kneeling during the anthem, but an apology for the Jaguars organization failing to fully recognize the context (on foreign soil, followed by standing for God Save the Queen).

Well-written, well-intentioned, good faith apology that I'm certain is going to be spun as a backtrack by the Times-Union because of Rams attendance.

Better late than never for Mr. Myers. Having an NFL kicker that can't make extra points is almost as bad as having an NFL QB who can't throw the ball well ;)
