As for busts -- language does matter, right? Joekel obviously isn't a bust. Lazy sports commentators bastardize the language all the time, but the guy isn't a bust. He wasn't very good. He clearly was a disappointment. But he's not a bust. And Bortles is clearly better than *that* assessment. Fowler, too.

Stop with the craziness. Draft picks don't work out far, far more than some lazy observations presume. That doesn't make them a bust.

Honest question.

Bust equates not even remotely living up to draft slot potential.  The guys was drafted 2nd Overall and has performed about as well as you'd expect a UDRFA to play.

I mean I get that everyone had him figured to be a unanimous top 5 selection, but for whatever reason, his college game didn't transfer over to the NFL.  We didn't pick up his 5th year and the Seahawks gave him a 1 year deal.  This has bust written all over it.  I don't see any way in hell you can call it any differently.

Joeckel is a textbook draft bust. Not sure how anybody can argue otherwise.

He was the second pick in the draft. The expectation with the second pick is you are drafting a franchise cornerstone. Joeckel was anything but that.

He was a failure at left tackle. Replaced by a mediocre veteran with bad knees. And then he moved inside to guard and was equally as bad. All I can picture of Joeckel last season is him being embarrassed by Geno Atkins in the preseason.

He is 22. He only played one year. He will be fine.

Thus, we find the following:
Joekel on Weaver owned team=Bust, whereas
Joekel on Khan owned team=Disappointing

I worked it out for myself

Still a bust.

He is only 22, but has already been arrested twice since in the league.
He only played one year, but was absolutely outplayed by a 3rd round true rookie.
He will be fine, if he can find a position that he's more suited to play, either on our team or for someone else.

QuoteFowler has also been charged with 12 traffic violations in 10 incidents in four counties since December 2015, including six speeding tickets.

He obviously has a problem with driving and he should use his money to have someone drive him. State should take his license.

The NFL doesn't care what you say, it's how you play.  What percent of NFL players have been arrested?  A lot.

So far Kaepernick has expressed his opinions. Not committed crimes.  By the end of the season he will be picked up by someone. Maybe by the end of pre-season.

Do you realize you are posting the JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS message board. No one gives rat spit about that douche bag on the Jags board.

What I'm concerned with is the 15-49 record over the last 4 seasons. (average less than 4 wins per year, over 12 losses)

During that time we've improved the scoreboards but not the team.  So you can see BB pick six's in HD Video!  Whoopee!!

Can you name one respected sportscaster who predicts we will have a winning team next year?

I can't.  So discussing potential free agents is of course apropos for this message board, even if you don't like them.

Do I need to actually cut off a rats ass and present it to you?

I'd take Kap over Henne immediately.

Henne:
TDs - 58
INTs - 63
Rate - 75.5

Kap:
TDS - 72
INTs - 30
Rate - 88.9

Don't even ask about rushing yards, rushing TDs, wins, playoffs, Superbowl appearances....

MusicMan

It's even more compelling when you fit him with our new "run first /Leonard Fournette feature back" offense.

Kap could bust some long runs once teams start keying on LF.

Problem is everyone still is thinking of the Kaepernick that went to the super bowl in 2012.  He appears to have regressed every year since then, or most likely the opposing teams have enough film to contain him.  This is the guy that couldn't beat out Blaine Gabbert in 2015.  Don't think he is the answer to much.

Now having said that!  I would take him over Henne immediately also as a back up, but only as a back up.

Have a feeling its going to be another long year, but time will tell.  I look forward to the 3rd preseason game, we should get a feel for the team then.

The NFL may not care what you say but teams do... and you are right... they really only care how you play... which is why he has not been hired yet.  Like you I assume someone will pick him up but marginal players with baggage are not very attractive to most teams...
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I'd take any of these guys over Kaep right now:  Christian Ponder, Zach Mettenberger, Aaron Murray, Jerod Evans, Shaun Hill

He had his shot, he flamed out.  If his performance outweighed his baggage, he'd be on a team.  Sometimes you get a second chance (Alex Smith, Mark Sanchez, Mike Vick), sometimes you don't.

All nopes straight down the line.  Shaun Hill has never played an entire seasons, Jerod Evans and Arron Murray have never played at all.  Zach Mettenberger has never played in more than 7 games in a season. Christian Ponder has played in 1 game in 3 years and he got roasted in it.

There is a reason those still on a team are all 3rd on their depth charts.  And Christian Ponder is a hilarious choice given that Kap is the start and Gabbert is his backup.  Ponder is Gabbert's backup.   You'd rather have the backup to our biggest QB bust ever rather than the actual starter?
