tl;dr:  he's ok, but not worth the distraction that he'll bring to the other 51

Comparing Ali to CK?  A bit of a stretch, eh?

And while I agree somewhat with JJL, history's view on CK may be quite the opposite as it is today.

But no matter what side of the fence you fall on regarding his political views, do you honestly think that his talent supersedes the attention (both good and bad) he's going to bring to the team?   I hear ya SMM... but no, I don't think he'd be employed if he hit a woman.  His ability doesn't transcend the distraction.

If you want to blame something for CK not playing football, then you may want to lean a bit harder on the reporters asking the questions.  Think about the scenario that many GMs, HCs and owners are thinking:

They win a close game, with a great play by their face of the franchise and #1 WR.  For the next 4 days, all anyone in the media is talking about is what does it REALLY* mean now that CK is standing for the anthem.  A 10 second highlight of the play followed by 48 minutes & 37 seconds of 3 retired players and a political analyst opining on why he stood, if he'll stand for the next game, how he's not black enough, should the team go ahead name him the starter, will that affect his kneeling/standing, back in my day... blah, blah, fucking blah, blah, blah.....

A lineman can have some issues, he's not getting interviewed everyday.  No one gives a shit if Guard A replaces Tackle B.  There's 104 WRs on each team, so if you're not the #1 or 2, no one cares.  Quick, name the 6 other LBs on our roster not named Poz, Jack or Smith!  It's a team game and for the most part, the moving pieces are anonymous.

QBs, Kickers and Punters stand alone.  Figuratively and literally.

A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Political people (esp liberals) love these polarizing sports figures, of course for the political angle (opposed to actually being good). Tebow, Michael Sam, Kaep, and on and on and on....

RattlerGator

History is going to view Colin Kaepernick as an insecure-in-his-blackness-dumbass. There is no legit comparison to Ali. Only forced & inapplicable comparisons.

And no, I don't want his ass on my team.

Clearly RG, you know more than Pete Carroll.

I'm sure being a former Gator your an Aaron Hernandez fan? Now I really don't want that (shit) on my team.

CK expresses an opinion and is shunned? Wow, I thought this was a free country.  Opinions are Ok as long as they are popular?

Dude was a starting QB on a Super Bowl team and then a NFC Championship contender.  His personal beliefs really don't matter as long as he does his job on the field well, right?

What we need are winners, something BB has not even sniffed yet. Start over with another rookie QB?  OMG

Here is a good article on why CK is still unemployed.  Not sure hes the answer for anything, but positive that Henne  is  not.

Were you implying that liberals loved Tebow? I must have missed something.

I think the people that really love polarizing sports figures are the executives and shareholders of ESPN, etc.

MusicMan, I loved Aaron Hernandez as a player for the Gators and the Patriots. Tremendous football player. All that other shiznit? I'm okay with how the system handled it.

I also loved Colin Kaepernick on the football field. Loved -- past tense.

This means I'm also okay with how the system is dealing with him right now. Different systems, mind you, but systems nevertheless.

And here you come with that good old strawman, MM -- Wow, I thought this was a free country.

It's precisely because this *is* a free country that he doesn't have a job right now. Free country, and freedom of speech, has never meant freedom from consequences. You have to work tremendously hard to not understand that simple fact of the matter. Maybe he gets a job in the League again, maybe he doesn't.

But the consequences he's enduring right now? Well earned by his perpetrating behind.

The Jags are the 42nd most valued sports franchise. Very impressive, esp with the soccer teams included into the list. I will expect a significant increase in 2018 (even with another subpar season, hopefully not). Obviously with Daily's Place, that will add more in the black.

I think Lamping should add a Power point slide with these figures in his Jaguars financial sob stories, err, I mean state of the Jags presentations.

Wow, 29 of 32 NFL teams made this list of 50. That's pretty incredible.

But . . . how can a little ole North Florida team in Jacksonville be more valuable than a Central Florida team in Tampa?

The Memphis narrative takes yet another hit, my man, yet another hit.

But I am glad to see some Northeast Florida pride rubbing off on you. Our next challenge . . . you dropping the Dolphins and going all in with the Jags, baby. Make it happen, Ennis, make it happen !!!

Haha. I'll always be a Dolphin fan!
