STATE OF THE FRANCHISE RIGHT NOW. On jaguars.com.

To me it feels the team is laying the groundwork for asking for a new stadium in a few years

He said that was not the purpose of showing that chart.

Not only that, but another section of that same chart highlighted franchises that have had money invested in their existing stadiums. As long as EverBank Field continues to be well-maintained and modernized from time to time, they seem perfectly content there.

The Jaguars have talked about the benefits from and possibilities with the stadium's current location. Why build something new somewhere else?

Tacachale

Wow. If they really pull that off all that with $90 million it will definitely be one of the most unique stadium areas I've ever seen.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Looks awesome

Exactly right, and that's got to prove somewhat embarrassing for some of the critics on the board. Khan is bringing something absolutely unique to Jacksonville, integrating it into our sports district, with hints of even more much-needed development in that immediate area in the near future. This is so much more than a $45 million gift to the city and appears to be a sterling example of a properly executed public-private partnership.

Time for the next round of presumptive criticisms, I'm sure.

some of those "critics" were just asking for more information before the City agreed to give up tax dollars.  For example, myself and others questioned the ability to get a 5,000 seat amphitheater (much less the extra 5,000 standing room) in the space shown in the first renderings.  Turns out we were right, as the new design uses multiple levels to get to 5,000 and the standing room area is really underneath the current end zone (not shown originally).

But here's the thing tufsu1 -- you have a billionaire owner in Shad Khan who is not reckless or foolish, and he's hired a guy in Mark Lamping to lead the Jaguars operation who was formerly the CEO of MetLife Stadium in the New York City area that houses not one but TWO National Football League teams in a very modern stadium and he was previously president of the St. Louis Cardinals Major League Baseball team.

Are people on this board really so ignorant as to think that crew, having hired a firm that is certainly one of the experts for sports and entertainment facility construction, was somehow unaware of the space limitations vis-a-vis the published renderings?

Seriously?

Come on, man. You weren't right; you were commenting on an irrelevant triviality as if it was indicative of something slipshod, at best, or nefarious, at worst. They have designed a 5,500 seat facility that does fit within the space allotted. Why is it so hard for some on this board to realize we have a genuinely big league owner who is not just worldly but also savvy and he hired a genuinely big league guy to run this small-market Jacksonville Jaguars business. The underestimation of these two men has been crazy.
