This is 2011 all over.  Please, for the love of all things Jaguars DO NOT WIN THURSDAY!  This is a plea for the future of our franchise for the next decade and a half.  Do not put Winston in our division.

Not so sure about that....

Winston to TN might set them back another 5 years.  I won't claim to know anything other than what I've read and seen, but I'm not that high on Winston in the NFL - he makes too many dumb mistakes.  Granted, he can seem to will his team to win and is a dominant athlete, but we've recently seen that type not be able to make it at the next level.  I'd be more afraid of Mariota coming in than Winston.

You haven't watched any Oregon games have you?  How do these running QBs work out in the NFL compared to pocket passers?
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

Of course, being the Jags, we will win.  And Gus will dance around the locker room and chant like we just won the AFC.

lol, Winston is not Andrew Luck.

Whatever you think of Winston in comparison to Luck, this isn't a pick I'd risk in division.  Besides, you'd rather not trade that pick for several picks in the coming draft?  Whether your 1 or 2, someone will come calling, and pay heavy.

The RGIII trade messed up everyone's perspective. A trade like that had not happened before and likely will never happen again. Everybody wants to trade down but it rarely happens.

Saying a team "has to lose" or "should lose" a game is a loser mentality.

Bortles listed as questionable for Thursday's game with foot injury.

Its very rare for two QBs come out on top like this.  But when they do, and a trade happens at the top of the draft, they fetch a lot.  RGIII might be slightly more extreme. But see Manning/Rivers was ridiculous haul for SD, and Vick got a good amount back in 2001.

Typically those teams picking at the top need QBs.

Yeah!  Maybe we should try some of that winner mentality that's worked out for us so well.

If they win, they win. If they lose, they lose. The mentality of a fan that wants his team to lose for draft position is just one I will never understand I guess.

Duval Dude - Calling you out for the garbage you spew, sorry if you are out of the country or at a family funeral, but this absolute garbage that all you care about is defense, is all about garbage. You would go round and round with me over Cecil Shorts and the WRs, and now you have a tune of "oh, I'm only a defensive guy" so I don't care about the offense.

2 touchdowns in the last 46 possessions. You better damn well care about offense, because if you don't your beloved defense will live and die on the field without a better offense.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

"This is a game-changer. This is what I mean when I say taking Jacksonville to the next level."

You Mtrain is funny how you go out way to direct comments towards me, and all I do is ignore your old ass. Do you not have anything else better to do during retirement. I have two words GROW UP. I dont come on metrojax for someone to agree with me, its really not that damn serious. I barely even post on here now because of ignorant trolls such as your self. Now since Ive cleared that up, you have a nice day and KEEP MY NAME OUT YOUR MOUTH!

As is stands now, Tampa Bay will pick 1st in the draft, Tennessee 2nd, and Jacksonville 3rd. Most mock drafts have Mariota going to TB, Winston going to TEN, and JAX picking up NEB DE Randy Gregory or USC DE Leonard Williams. We don't really need any major help on the defensive line, like the offensive line; Those mock drafts must be going by the 'best player available' philosophy. Interesting scenario if TB passes up the homestate QB. I won't be surprised if the draft doesn't go as planned, just like 2014's draft.

TB ain't passing on Winston.  And we better hope they don't.

I understand this...the line has been good, but Clemons is in his 30s and Bryant is about to be.  Gregory seems a great fit for the LEO role and Williams seems a great fit for Bryant's role (with the ability to do a little damage as a pass rusher too).  Also, while we've had a successful pass rush this year in terms of total number of sacks, this scheme relies heavily on a dominant every-down LEO and we really don't have that.  We have a lot of packages and role players and stunts to generate pressure, but deploying those puts us at risk of giving up the big play too.  Having a dangerous every-down LEO takes pressure off the rest of the defense.  Clemons is still a pretty effective player, but not as feared as he once was, or as Bennett/Avril are in Seattle.  If Gregory can be that, the pick makes great sense to me.

I'd love to see us trade down with Cleveland and take both of their first round picks, if Cleveland is as in love with Mariota as has been purported.

Unfortunately, any hopes we had for a trade up for QBs died with our victory Thursday.  In no man's land now.

Not really sure how the third overall pick is "no man's land" but ok.
