Hurns has been the most exciting player to watch for me so far, even over Bortles. The kid is a straight play maker! He was all over the field against Detroit!

The thing I like is that he's big, and can constantly get open. Then only down side, hes not very fast at all. But that's where the other receivers come into play. Ive never been a fan hell bent on having a "number one wide out". I'd rather have a "pick your poision" type offense. Id rather have 6 REALLY good receivers, then just one Awesome receivers. The more playmakers you have, the more it stresses opposing defenses. I think all our wide out bring something different to the table. I'm just wondering how they are going to ride this "Chad Henne is the starter" crap. Khan agreed to take the lumps in year one of the rebuild, but Im sure him, nor the fans want to see that again in year two. So I can almost guarantee that if Henne is looking completely incompetent, the Bortles decision will be made sooner than later. IT would make no sense to sacrifice  your season over non-sense.

Disagree, bigtime. Blake Bortles is *the* most exciting thing that has happened to our franchise in years. And I mean exciting on multiple levels; he's almost a godsend straight out of central casting for what the Jags needed *off* the field and he's just as good on the field.

The minute I saw him on that segment ESPN runs with Jon Gruden prior to the draft, I immediately said I want this guy for the Jags. But even I didn't think he was going to perform as well as he has. The man exudes level-headed competence and a love for being right here in River City. We were due to get lucky and it appears we have.

I will be honest and admit I didn't think much about Bortles. Mostly because the Jags rarely mentioned his name, which was one purpose of course. But after doing my homework on him, I was sold that he was the only QB worth the first pick, but he may need to develop. Now my head is spinning. The endorsement he signed with Audi is the biggest sign that the city has already embraced him and he is the face of the franchise. I was talking to a 20 year old the other day that doesn't watch football and he was like "Man all I keep hearing about is the Jags." With all the ups and downs of the previous regime, I really appreciate weaver. All he wanted is the best for the Jags, even if it couldn't come from him. He could have easily sold us to someone in LA or another city that was looking for a team, but he was committed and Im glad he was.

Bortles to Marqise Lee last night.

The first of what will surely be many over the coming years.

^^Yes! For the first time ever seems like we drafted the QB. Im stoked. Im not worried about IF he will start but WHEN he will start. They have been very vague about it for a reason. If Henne was the "starter" for the entire season they would just say it. But they stated hes the "week one" starter, and when asked if Thursday was Bortles last game for the year he said "could be, we havent discussed that with him." I trust whatever they are doing. And Henne has already stated he knows if we win games hes fine, and if we are not things will happen AKA he will be replaced.

Bortles is the future, but if the Jaguars are intent to not start him for the opener, I respect the fact that they aren't using language that would make Chad Henne feel like a lame duck. It works out well too that we have our first two games on the road. Will give Henne the chance to go out there, show what he's got, and not worry about having the home crowd chanting for Bortles five minutes into the game.

That is my thinking as well. I honestly think they want Bortles to be ready by the home opener. And I know Gus is big on keeping his word. But I think its to the point now hes probably uncomfortable because he knows they should start Bortles. I say let it play out naturally.

Unless our O line can handle the opposition it won't matter who the quarterback is. If he spends the whole game running for his life or taking unnecessary hits we could have a sucky season. Always build a football team the way you build a house, start with the foundation, go up from there.

Bortles is exciting and he brings a fresh feel to the Jaguars. I am excited to see him grow with the Jags.

The issue has not been the pass blocking, its actually been the run blocking. The pass blocking was bad last night because the the starters did not play. Big country and NFL.com had some articles about the blocking issues and it is the run blocking thats the issue.

I'm 100% behind the 'plan' to sit Bortles for the full year.

I have another thought, though, that I haven't really seen discussed anywhere.  To date, both Bortles and Henne have been in lockstep with their responses to the media regarding the QB situation.  And  I don't know for a fact, but I would assume that they do have a pretty solid understanding of their respective positions on the team.

That being said, and the constant message from the coach, "When we feel that he's ready...." tells me, IMO, that what they're waiting for is for BB05 to basically tell the coaching staff, "I've got this.  Play me."  He needs to take that step on his own.  And we've seen him play;  the kid can ball.  He's obviously got the physical tools to do the job and seems to have enough understanding of the playbook as well.  But until he's ready to take that step, and TAKE the job from Henne, then they'll probably keep playing Henne.

Again, IMO, this is more about Bortles taking the reigns more so than the team seeing anything else on the field to convince them more.

I can stomach Henne for a season IF hes playing well..but this comes to mind also... If Henne is complete diaster, do you still agree with sitting bortles? Khan was on board with taking growing pains in the first year of rebuild, but they have to show SOMETHING this season. Another 4-12 would not be acceptable, not even from my perspective. I actually would be utterly pissed and disappointed if they let the season tank for the sake of having a consistant message. If Henne sucks, put in your best player, which would be Bortles at that point

Well, assuming that everything is as has been presented then, yeah.  I know it would be pretty painful, but if Bortles isn't confident enough in himself to go to the coach and say, "Gus, You've gotta play me!", then he probably isn't 'ready'.

It wasn't until I read some of the reports regarding Vick and Jets...  That it was rumored that the front office was pissed that Vick was OK with Geno being the starter and content with relegating himself to the backup role.

I guess it's kind of like knowing you're doing a good job at work, but you're OK with waiting for that pay increase as opposed to marching in the boss's office and saying I Want It!  I've Earned It!  Give It To Me!

Well Im not talking about Bortles making the decision. At the end of the day, if they say " hey your starting this week." He doesnt have a say so. What I need to understand is...if henne is playing bad and the season is tanking, what is the upside of letting bortles sit? What can do that Bortles cant? Even if Bortles sits for year, he will still make rookie mistakes. Im just wondering how the coaching staff and GM can sell to anybody its a good idea to play Henne for a year if hes a turd? It would actually go against everything preach about. And lastly, how will that sell that to Khan "yeah I know were getting blown out by double digits again and were 0-8, but trust us Henne's our guy." But of course, were all just blowing hot air because known of us know what they are really thinking. But its fun to assume  ;D

is it just me, or is the eclectic mix of people in the pool during the games a little odd?  there were kids swimming next to a woman in a white bikini that was up against the glass wall showing camel toe to the world.

In other news, I can say Im glad our days of bad drafting seem to be over. The texans are a complete disaster right now. And after reading they have cut ANOTHER previous high draft pick is a bad, bad sign. They have released several of their previous draft picks the past two years and it explains why they went 2-14. I honestly think the two years they were good was just a fluke, because they are in bad shape. Bad drafting will get you everytime. Reading the comments online, their fans are livid and think Rick Smith is out the door after this season. This is why they predict the Jags to be second in the AFC south this season. Texans arent headed in the right direction, and the Titans have been medicore at best the past several years and have not identity or direction. They kinda remind me of the Jags from 2008-2011, and we all see what happen after that.
