Just heard on the radio that Jason Babin has decided to opt out of his remaining two year contract in order to look for better money elsewhere ... Is this true?? I always liked him and thought management did too. If it is true, seems like he's walking just when he's hitting his stride.
During an interview he actually says he wants to stay here and they are trying to get a deal done. So he's basicially testing the market to see what he's worth, then negoiate with the Jags for a new deal. Smart move on both parts actually. Gone are the days of us overpaying people.

Damn, I forgot that today (at 4:00 PM) is the first day of NFL free agency!

I am interested to see how much interest MJD gets, and at what price. Theyve already said the running free agency class has not gotten much interest already. Im not sure what MJD is thinking, but hes not worth much anymore. Its time for him to humble down and realize his best years are behind him.

I still say our best bet is to hope Clowney falls to #3. There isn't a QB worth a Top 5 pick this year.

Blaine Gabbert traded to the Niners for a 6th round pick.

Not too surprised. After all Henne pretty much led the team for most of the second half of last season. Do you (or anyone) think this is a guaranty that mgmt is taking a QB or two in the draft?

I like Caldwell, think he is making good decisions. Hopefully we will start bringing on players and giving them a chance to develop.

I wonder if by throwing Gabbert into the fire weeks before season really killed his nfl career.

Their very happy on the Jaguar's Message board, rid of Blaine and a pick to go with it. It will be funny if the 9ers can turn his career around, if they do atleast he's far away in the NFC.

I agree. I always thought Gabbert has the potential to be a franchise QB, just at the time we didn't have a coaching staff that could bring that out. It's a shame because I always thought a Gabbert/Blackmon team would be unstoppable. Best of luck to him, and hopefully SanFran can utilize that potential.

LOL, Check out that PFT link above; People are saying that the Niners got fleeced.

Unless they turn Blaine around they did, you've seen him play right?

LoL I read a few of those public comments, and much like the T-U forums anonymity breeds hostility and ignorance. I think coming up under Kaepernick will either make or break him, but that'll be his choice. From the reports on ESPN, it seems this a mutual decision and all sides and players are satisfied with it. Honestly, even he improved greatly this season he never would've gotten the deserved respect from the fan base here. This is the fresh start he needed.

Dang, the Jags have been very busy. They possibly may add Tampa Bay LB Dekota Watson.
