I can accept legitimate performance based criticism, as opposed to London/no fans ignorance, as Funwithteeth mentioned.

However, I understand I-10's point that a lot of Jaguars fans seem uniquely predisposed toward self-immolation that goes beyond gallows humor.  To that I would add that a lot of the national media's piling on the Jaguars, even when it's presented as a criticism of legitimate performance issues, is not-so-subtly driven by the "this hillbilly town doesn't deserve a football team!" mindset.

I like gallows humor when shared with fellow Jaguar fans.  It's a way for us to keep our sanity.  When it's 75 non-Jaguars fans stopping in my office to chortle about how bad my team is, my capacity for humor disappears.

Well said Wacca.

This may have already been discussed earlier in this post but I was extremely disappointed to see Shad Khan's $250k donation to Dick Scott's re-election campaign.  I really thought he was a smarter businessman than that.  With an already awful product on the field and the true loyal fans still hanging in there each week, why would he run the risk of potentially alienating half of the Jaguars' remaining supporters.

It just doesn't make any sense all things considered.  Frankly, it was the last straw for me.  I am free and have my Sundays back again.  Saturdays in the fall are for college ball but I no longer feel like I have to watch this pathetic excuse for a professional team.  Thanks Shad, I don't feel guilty now!!

I-10, Chill.  You're going to strain yourself so hard you Romo.  Besides, Tampa doesn't have fans, just look at their stands on gameday.  Or at least at the end of the 4th Quarter when Shutdown corner takes picks of sickly fanbases.  (He Swings, he connects..... That low-hanging fruit is OUTTA HERE!)

DD08, So I guess you're not gonna ask Gabbert to prom this year?

FWT, you're right.  We DO have to laugh at ourselves this year.

Wacca, Agreed, as usual, on all points.

FloridaForester, mixing politics and sports is a lose-lose situation either way.   Enjoy the remainder of your Sundays and every first day after the first monday in November when the polls open.  No body likes a fair weather fan, in any avenue of life.

Guys,

Seriously, we're really bad, so the silver lining is that we have no where to go but up.  Take heart in the fact that a lot of the criticism is legitimately performance based and not the typical LHF that we have to rail against at every turn.

BTW, this is as close to 'keeping the peace' as you'll ever see or read from me, but if wanted to read in-house bickering, I'd go chase down some of Mtrains or Simms3's posts...  ;D

He donated because he a very smart businessman. He came to this country with nothing, and is now worth just under $4 billion.

Many people in the extremely wealthy demographic are known for donating to everyone to make sure they can get what they need. This isn't about his love affair with Rick Scott's policies, it's about making sure you get what you need when you need it. What is smarter than that?

With all of that said, I'm not sure why that matters in terms of his ownership of the Jaguars, which I'd actually give his ownership so far (approaching the 24 month mark) a passing grade. Yes, the on field product is a disaster now, but it's a disaster because you can't rebuild overnight in the NFL, and he was left with a talent poor roster. Bottom line is they don't have players.

College ball..... The purity of playing the game for love of the game.....  I hear you, Mr. Hypocrite.

Read this series and then tell me honestly that college ball isn't 'professional'.

FWT, you're right.  We DO have to laugh at ourselves this year.

The key word is 'we' as in 'us' and not all of America being the ones that are throwing the first punches, just like Wacca went over. For what it's worth, even people who don't have a dog in the fight agrees that the Broncos were classless, throwing a low-blow at a team while they are down (check out the PFT link, with people saying 'I'm not a Jags fan, but...." Of course when I say a simple sarcastic remark like "So true, ouch" and someone replies very strongly, then I reply to that response, I'm always the outta control raging lunatic for whatever reason....

*que the 'It's only a game I-10east, relax!!!!* reply from a haphazard MJer....

Is that my cue? Well I admire your passion and you do have a point that the Jags are the leagues whipping boy this year, but with stats that are really historically bad you shouldn't be surprised. I guess all you can do is keep your shirt on (teal shirt that is), remember that it is just entertainment, hope for the best and drink a beer. If we ever run into each other at a game I'll be sure to buy you one, maybe two ... but I don't know you seem like you might be an angry drunk... Go Jags!

I-10east

^^^I don't think there's any correlation with defending your team against classless childish remarks (from a team that choked away their SB chances last year BTW) to an unreasonable "homer Jags fan who sports teal colored glasses, and thinks that the Jags can't do any wrong". I'm sorry, I didn't mean to specifically target you with the 'que' response HangingMoth, it seems like dang-near everyone says replies to me like that, like NRW told me "to chill" earlier LOL. I don't consider myself a heavy-duty drinker like in my old Army days, but definitely don't mind a couple of occasional beers every once in a while; If we ever meet, I'll take you up on your offer. :)

HangingMoth

No worries, MetroJax does seem a little harsh sometimes, but I guess that comes with the territory of anonymous blogging. I think the best thing the Jags could do this year is pull off one really good upset, you know play one game start to finish with out any stupid mistakes where everyone is on their A game. But I guess we'll have to keep showing up every Sunday even if it is just hoping we play a little better than the week before.

Random thought. Tom Coughlin's and old and new teams are both winless. Aint that some shit  ;D
