I'm sorry he can't continue his career.  He was nothing but a class act and a gentleman.  Granted, that made it a bit disorienting to see him in the employ of a franchise as dysfunctional as the Jets.
The tourist would realize at once that he had struck the Land of Flowers - the City Beautiful!

I still feel bad about how we released him. But, hopefully he'll retire a Jag very soon. He stated he would right after he was released from the Jags if Im not mistaken. It seems no matter who he playing for, after 2010 his career would have been over either way with back surgery and knee issues. Would have been nice to have him here coaching Gabbert up though. That was a missed opportunity.

What do you think about Alualu switching to DE?

It is common sense LOL Ive always wondered why we drafted a DE who played in a 3-4 defense, to play DT in a 4-3 defense. He played some DE last year, but of course that was in a 4-3. I think putting him back in the position he played in college will be natural fit for him and we just might see the player we drafted. Hes a great guy and I hope it works out for him.

I heard on the radio that there's a chance that he could be released, only if he don't put some fire under his ass in camp. I can't disagree with that sentiment.

It would be odd they would switch his position then release him. I'd rather hear it from the horses mouth than anyone else. Not too mention that he is still on a rookie contract, which mean he isnt getting paid much. It will make more sense to see what he can do, then opt not to resign if he doesnt perform well. He is a zero risk player at this point.  And lets not forget, this dude played through knee problems the marjority of his career. ITt not like he was being lazy. I know theres the "well he was top pick" thing going around, however its not his fault he got drafted too high. That fell on Gene's shoulder. Ive always felt all the crap hes gotten from the fan base has been completely unfair. When people to the extent to boo him at the games, I couldnt believe it.  I mean seriously, what did he do?? I also think everyone speclates too much. Like the media has speculated were going to start Denard Robinson is going to play QB, which is wrong. And that Justin Blackmon is our #1 receiver, which is wrong. Shorts is the proven #1 at this point. I believe he will be released, when he is released.

And that is in a 4-3 scheme. He played DE in a 3-4 in college. Thats the difference. ANd he was only in the rotation a few times. Not enough of a sample size to gauge what he can really do at DE.

Now that I scanned through the roster, you're right. I definitely got caught up with the off season speculation. Although I must say, Alualu hasn't lived up to being a 1st round pick yet at DT, we'll see if he can put some pressure on the opposing QB at his more natural position DE. His main comp should be Jason Babin, Austin Lane, and Andre Branch.

Well thats the thing, he should not have A) been drafted 1st B) drafted to play DT. I really dont know what Gene though process was with him. Its not like moving someone from left tackle to right tackle. DE and DT are two completely different positions and he played in two completly different types of defense in the college and NFL. But that is why I try to not to scrunize him too much. He hasnt been spectacluer, buts hes been solid, which is good for someone who has had a Eff'ed up knee the entire time.

PFT has been doing a series of the 32 NFL teams 'Mt Rushmore'. So which four would yall put on the Jags Mt Rushmore? Of course Florio had to be a jokester poking fun at Jax with the title, SMH. I left Jimmy Smith's drug using ass off the mountain.

Wayne Weaver (probably the most unappreciated sports owner ever)

Fred Taylor (The past LA comment was rough, but I forgive him with all the work he's done with the organization.)

Tony Boselli (obvious choice)

Maurice Jones-Drew

Why do you think WW is unappreciated? I know personally I appreciate the things he did for us, however that doesnt mean that there werent huge mistakes he made. I know Ive personally have been critical of him for obvious reasons. He did numerous ass backwards things that set this franchise back and has made very bad business decisions during his tenure. Its not being unapprecative, but its just the truth. Atleast from my perspective. I DO appreciate how he fought to get us a team, and that alone should have him on MT. Rushmore, however that will not allow me to overlook missteps that occured. And there was a lot of them. I still think Weaver should have hired people (like Khan did) to run the franchise. Weaver was trying to do too much and to be frank had no idea what he was doing for the most part.
