I think Smith and Jones will be back. Smith is a 30 year old lineback who does not rush the passer (atleast thats not his speciality) and we know the fullback position does mean much in the NFL not to mention Jone's age. With the free agent marketing being so bad this year (because just about every team is cash strapped), they wont get much more from other teams than they will us.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A bill that would pave the way for renovations at EverBank Field for the Jacksonville Jaguars clears it first test at the state Capitol.

On Monday, a Senate committee passed legislation sponsored by Sen. Rob Bradley that would give the Jaguars a $2 million a year tax break for the next 30 years.

While the bill passed the committee, it will face tough questions going forward because the Jaguars already get a $2 million a year tax break from the state of Florida.

That deal dates back to 1994 and the Jags will continue receiving the cash through 2024.

Getting two tax breaks worth $4 million a year will take some selling in the Legislature, but Bradley said the money is needed to make EverBank Field a world-class facility for the future.

"It was built in 1995 and it's starting to show its age and it's time to bring it up to world-class standards and this bill will help do that."

Bradley said the previous tax rebate was for construction of the stadium.

"That tax rebate goes to pay debt service on the building of the stadium and now we have moved ahead in time. It's been almost 17 years since the stadium opened and since that time, over 20 NFL teams have either gotten new stadiums or had significant renovations to their stadiums and so in order for us to keep a world-class facility, for it to be one of the best around, and it will be if this bill passes and everything moves forward, we need a new investment in it."

Bradley compares the maintenance of a stadium to a house.

"I look at it like with my house. I need to replace the roof every couple of decades. I need to make sure that it remains up to date and this is our responsibility as taxpayers."

Bradley describes the tax rebate as a user fee because state sales taxes generated at the stadium are returned to the facility.

"If you are an individual that enjoys the use of EverBank Field and think it is important for us to keep it at a high level, at a world-class level, then you can help contribute to that by going to the stadium, paying for tickets, paying for Cokes, paying for hot dogs, and that is the money that gets used to renovate the stadium. If you don't think it's a good idea to do this, then don't go to EverBank Field and your tax dollars won't be used to renovate it."

Under the legislation, the city of Jacksonville and the team's owner would also contribute to the cost of renovations.

The Jaguars are currently one of eight professional sports franchises in Florida that receive the state's $2 million a year tax break over 30 years.

The bill still faces votes in two more committees before it can head to the full Senate.

I dunno what to think about that uni. It look kinda look similar to the Chargers. What is that weird fourth color periwinkle? Gray? Of course they would put 'my favorite' element of the uni right on the front, that weird looking JAGS shield. I was afraid that they was gonna basically obliterate all of the teal, and it looks like my concerns have came true. My gut is telling me that uni is the real deal. Maybe it will grow on me eventually, oh well.  :-\

- Funny you should say that.  I wore my new Jags hat proudly over the weekend & my wife implied that it looked like a JSO/Sheriff's shield/badge - especially with the black & gold.

I think its a bad picture man and We all know grey will never be in our color scheme. I actually like it, if thats actually it. And thats just a small glipse and its look like a mock up, not the real thing. The backwards Jaguar is a dead give away its just a mock up. But minus the gray and the backwards shield, I would be good with that. Looks lght years better than the naked Jersey weaver created in 2009.And remember, Lamping stated we will have a teal alternate jersey for special occasions. So all is not lost my brother  ;D

We re-signed Meester and sign Shipley to a two year deal. Our receiver core is getting stacked. Shipley is EXTREMELY good and I was praying he came back. Things are starting to shape up. (still wondering what the hell we are gonna do at QB, UGH!)

Teal will not be the primary color.  That I can tell you with certainty.

There's that line.  Then there's, "We will not be active in first tier FA." and "We're going to build through the draft." and "We're not basing any team decisions on financial reasons."

The team has been completely upfront with us since the new GM and HC hire.

Why is it that every where I read people keep acting surprised when something happens?

I don't get it.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Because the Jaguar fan base is abused and needs to go see Dr. Phil or Oprah. Jaguar fans have trust issues so bad until its starting to become sad. They are nick picking EVERYTHING the front office is doing, trying to find something wrong or cacth them in a lie. I have never seen anything like this in my life to be honest. I, for one, have been very relaxed and comfortable about everything taking place. Were doing things the right way FINALLY and thats cool with me. We have a awesome owner, and the best front office this franchise has had in its short history. I dont see why people are stressing over nothing at this point.

P.S. Good move to keep Shipley.

Check on Khan on Forbes. As usual he is very candid and brutally honest.

FYI- he said that season ticket have started off a historic rate.
