Im so excited for Cecil Shorts. He's been my bright light this season. It just sucks that such a terrible season kinda overshadows his performance. EVen with missing a game, he is already over 800 yards receiving. With three games left he will be at 1,000 or more depending on if he continues to catch and run. We waited a LONG time for a receiver like this. After a rough season last year, Im super excited for him. If Blackmon can have a second year like he did, were gonna be in business next season.

Now here is something I can agree with! Shorts has been a real surprise for this team, and honestly probably one of the biggest surprises in the whole NFL in 2012.

I just hope he doesn't pull a Mike Thomas (820yds in 2010 then steep decline).

The Major difference in the Thomas and Shorts. Shorts has the highest yards per catch in the NFL right now.He can haul in anything, any distance, from any QB. Thomas was never a big play threat in 2010, he was just good. Shorts is a completely different caliber. He is the only one in a decade that can be compared to Jimmy Smith. I was never that high on Mike Thomas personally. Shorts is by far the most entertaining Jaguar since MJD. Its been a blast watching him play.

I too believe that Shorts is much more talented than Thomas and the same kinda
drop off is unlikely. Just a snakebitten as we have been, any excitement will be tempered!

Since the Jaguars bye, Shorts has been among the best receivers in the NFL. If you look at his stats since the Bears game, they average out to about 80 catches, 1400 yards and 9 TDs over an entire season. I would not expect that next year but he could easily hit 1,000 yards this year after missing a game with injury and having a three game stretch with only two catches. He is already a better receiver than Thomas ever dreamt of being. Shorts is also already our best pass catcher since Jimmy Smith and it isn't even close.

Yea shorts is a play maker all the way around. When you can deep passes from a medicore veteran and a shaky rookie, thats a real receiver right there.And his ability to make guys miss in unbeliviable. And he does it so flawlessly. Im sure if anyone noticed, but our passing game picked up once Shorts was deemded the starter, and as a result Robinson's production picked up as the #3 option (which he sucedded in while at Dallas). I think we just had to find the right combination and line up, and we have.

On a side note, we release Kvein Elliot. I had high hopes for the kid but his audition Sunday really costed the game. Defense held the Jets to 17 points. We should have one that game. Elliots dropped passes and broken routes were just terrible. I was too pissed at him for that. He's been okay at best all season. I knew we were going to do that now or in the offseason, just was a matter of when. I hope he gets picked up by another team. He just needs alot of work.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Jags aren't beating my fish today. Take it easy, start looking forward to the draft and enjoy the loss.

Its just funny how we come back and whine about the same thing every week. Its obvious we have problems and its obvious we probably wont win another game.

anyways, Im in evaluation mode just as the team probably is and here's what I seen today.

1.) Mistakes and Penalties have killed us all year. ESPECIALLY on our defense. I think everyone has gotten into panic mode and lost focus and they are just trying to do too much.

2.) Cecil continues to shine and Blackmon continues to grow. Jordan Shipely seems to be a pretty good addition as well. He just might stick around.

3.) Our offensive line is very offensive

4.) Given the circumstances, Henne has been excellent. He's had his moments, just as any QB but given the state of this team Im shocked he has faired as well as he has.

5.) Mathis needs to retire. No disrespect to him, but that injury last season has ended his career. I feel bad for him because hes our only hometown guy on the team and was one of the best players on our team for a very long time. But I think his career is closing in, quick.

The sky may be falling, but in the NFL that can turn around any given sunday. Im actually excited and looking forward to some changes in teh offseason and the team bouncing back.
