In that meeting, Lamping mentioned some great statistics that ESPN fails to report, in regards to market surveys.

One of them is that 75% of all residents claim the Jaguars is their team, which is unheard of in sports markets.  One day the smaller market is going to be the coveted club to own, because it's the only game in town.

Lamping is a very smart guy who loves Jacksonville, and we're lucky to have him.

I can believe it.

I said a long time ago that Jacksonville, regardless of that most people perceive, have one of the most deticiated fan bases. REASON BEING: WE support the Jaguarrs. We dont have a MSA of 3 or 4 million people supporting the team, WE support our team. The city of Jacksonville. On game day, the majaroity of those 62,000-63,000 people that show up are local. We do have some that drive from other cities in florida and georgia, but it is mostly a local crowd.

Not sure how many of you know them by name, but I'm sure you've seen some of their work on gameday - especially the RUN MJD tees.

Well the company behind them is Minor Thread Clothing and they're a local t-shirt shop that are not only huge Jag's fans, but they come up with some really kick-ass designs.

They are running a kickstarter program to get some new equipment so I figured if you're reading this post, you're already a fan of the Jags and you might want the scoop on where to get the tees that you see at the games while wondering, "Where can I get one of those?"

Give 'em a hand and get some original stuff.  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/109138506/help-minor-thread-clothing-get-a-direct-to-garment

They always have such cool shirts. And they seem to sell out quickly.

REALLY like that "ALL IN" shirt.

I'm on it.

Not a big fan of some of the Kickstarters out there lately that are basically just asking for a free handout in exchange for something goofy like a Twitter follow or a Facebook shout out, but this seems like a pretty good deal.

Might pick up a couple of them actually.

That's what I thought.   They've had it out on their FB page for a while and I finally checked it out today - pretty badass.  For $55 you get 3 tees + a bonus if they hit goal #2.   So the way I look at it, I just saved myself some money - paid $25 just for the RUN MJD last year, helped out a local business and didn't have to leave my desk.

I will be rocking the Blackmon/Batman shirt this year.   ;D

And Virginia, let's not forget  8)

The stats on the market's interest level in the Jaguars and in the NFL are staggering, year after year.  Jacksonville ranks very highly in % of people who follow the Jaguars regularly - that was the case even in the 2009 ticket sales disaster year - and in local TV ratings for NFL games.

Im excited about the "caravan cities" that the Jaguars will be announcing. I just checked out the Titans and they currently do the same thing. They are similar to team teal rallies. The Titans actually travel to different cities in Tennessee, Alabama and I seen Kentucky on their scheduled also. I am axious to hear about this. Its time for us to step outside the region and really promote this team.

Me too.  I heard the Jaguars had intended on rolling out this program for 2011 but the strike derailed it.  Of course it fits right in with what Lamping is trying to do.

The Colts have done the caravans with some success too, in Ft. Wayne, Evansville, a couple of the Kentucky cities, etc.  And the Broncos basically saved their franchise from moving out of Denver with a program like that back in the 60s, getting the whole Rocky Mountain region involved in what was then its only pro franchise in any sport.

The Tampa Bay Rays started doing something like that and it's considered very successful. It has really increased their appeal in other parts of the state. Good on the Jags.
