jaguars: #Jaguars place Blaine Gabbert (rt forearm/left shoulder)and Laurent Robinson (concussion) on injured reserve. WOW didnt see that coming...so end of Gabbert era?

well, looks like it's Henne now.

I seen it coming. Gabbert is too banged up. With any injury to his non throwing shoulder, and a elbow injury to his throwing arm, I dont see how he could function without the risk of getting injuried even more. And Robinson hasnt been much of a factor anyways.

It's also a roster tool that allows them to bring in some FAs to try out before next season while we still have some games left.

I expect to see lots of roster moves from here on out....

Man the sports media is really laying into Gabbert, kinda feel bad for him  :(

Saw the Jags picked up Jordan Shipley as a free agent. He was a beast at Texas and had a good rookie year in 2010 catching 52 balls for 600 yards and 3 TD's. He tore his MCL and ACL in 2011 and isn't fully recovered, as it usually takes at least a year to get back to full strength after an ACL tear. I imagine the Jags scooped him up with the hopes that he can have a good offseason and get back to full strength in 2013. I wouldn't count on that happening, but it would be nice to have a 3rd round talent at WR next year.

Please don't. He's getting paid to do what he loves, and became a millionaire before must of us had our first job. It's just business.

Regardless of that, it's incredibly tiresome to see the sports media collectively act like tearing athletes down when they're trying their best makes media members manlier.

I object a lot more to the concept of Jim Rome or Rick Reilly's being a millionaire than I do to Blaine Gabbert's being one.

+1 million.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

I agree on both accounts. But, what you're describing is systematic of the media in general, and isn't isolated to sports only.

I stopped watching ESPN/reading sports commentators the second I realized it's all hyperbole, conjecture, and BS. It's their JOB to be tiresome!!

Shipley looked good as a rookie. Would be nice if he had something to offer next year as a #4 option.

^^^Right on, looks like postable PFT material to me. Those haters really look silly when they try to argue with the facts. Tampa Bay (6-4) has to sell 7,400 tickets to avoid a blackout vs ATL in what should be a playoff contending atmosphere; Nobody talks about them though (and I will throw up in my mouth if someone says TB is in a larger market blah blah blah....).

So what does everything think about the defense not blitzing much sunday? Looking around on-line, people have been making comments complaining about it. Personally, blitzing would have been even more of a liability against Houston. They are a hard team to blitz against because they are rarely in blitzing situation. They run the ball and run play action so well, you have no idea what the hell they are going to do. And when there is a blitzing situation, you have to decide, to we take a chance and give up a play by having an empty backfield? Against a offense like Houston, that would not have been a good idea.  Not to mention, our front line is average at best.I feel they had to play it safe, they had no choice. One thing Ive learned in my short stint as a football fan is staffing usually dictates the play calling.  We've had a patch work defense all season and we just don't have the staff to the things we did last season.
