Lots of improvement happen this week. We only kicked one field goal (that counted) and we scored in the red zone. Some of us are so busy complaining about not winning, we havent even noticed the progress thats being made. All season would could not score in the red zones. The past two games, we have. That is a huge improvement actually. If we can become more consistent and play 4 Q's of football, we will be fine. Ive noticed that we are always dead for one half, and play flawless football in the other half. It just all needs to gel.

PS. Chastin West is still on my mind. I think we may finally have a real receiver. We'll see what he does in the weeks to come

Offense is the problem, may not change until 2012 draft.

...and with the 5th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select.... Justin Blackmon, Wide Receiver, Oklahoma St......

The team will probably win two or three more games. I don't think they'll be picking in the top 5.

Great news! Matt Schaub is injuried and will not play against Jacksonville! There is a God! Maybe we can get another garbage win  ;D

Nope.  Not kidding.  Just karma's way of saying, "You won't make it into the top 10 picks of the draft...."

WTF, Karma?  What did we ever do to you.  WW promises that JDR is fired after this year....

I bet the Texans fans that were on Big Cat Country talking all that noise are pretty quite now. One of the reason I never go to opposing teams websites and post.

duvaldude08

Me and my co workers were just talking about how cocky the Texans and their fans have become. Maybe this will take them down a peg or two.

The thing is the team doesn't suck. They beat two teams in the playoff race (Tennessee and Baltimore), had another playoff caliber team beat in Cincinnati and played close to the end against New Orleans, Pittsburgh and Houston. The Jaguars had the toughest first half schedule in the NFL and started a rookie QB. The team is on the uptick.

Yes, we suck less than our record would imply, and that's the problem. If we did we'd tank our remaining games, finally jettison Del Rio, and end up with a good draft position. As it stands, though, we'll probably "improve" through the end of the season, which will instill in us fans false hope, provide Weaver an excuse to keep Del Rio on, and wreck our chances at good draft position for 2012.

I agree. We have been close all season. But its like they always play one half of the game good, but the other half terriable. The problem with the team is that we are making a off season transition on field. That is the issue. If we had a full offseason and preseason with Gabbert as the QB, things would be going better right now. We do have issues at WR but that is no secret.

Sadly they will win some games in the second half of the year. Sorry to disappoint you.

As I gaze into my crystal ball.......

Based on the performance of the teams left on our schedule coupled with the simple fact that, offensively, we can only get better, we could potentially do just enought to put us in the playoff race at the end of the year.  I know, I know - teal colored glasses, but are they?

The Tale of the Tape:

  • at Cleveland - A QB work in progress, with them finding out if McCoy is the real deal or not.  No running game to speak of.  Missing a GW 24 yard FG.

  • Houston - have been doing well without Williams and Johnson.  Can they do it with Leinart?

  • Chargers (Monday Night) - They don't appear to be the same Chargers without Sproles.  Rivers doesn't look right.  They have to survive playing the Bears D, Von Miller and Dumerville of the Broncos.

  • Bucs - Third Straight home game and the Bucs are horrendous.  If we've won 3 to this point, we'll win 4.

  • at Falcons - This is the toughest game on the schedule, but it's a team that we're intimately familiar with.  Smitty will punt from his own 29 yard line against us.

  • at Titans - another tough one, potentially with playoff implications.  This is the game that worries me the most, with regards to another late-season let down.  Have the Kleenex nearby, just sayin'.

  • Colts - it's week 16 and the Colts have an entirely different reason to rest their starters.  And with the first pick in the 2012 draft, the Indianapolis Colts select.....

I'm not the guy that's ever going to say that a win is given in today's NFL, but we're through the halfway point and we've had a brutal first half.  It's OK to start looking up, but with tempered expectations.
